L: I'm making two pans of lasagna. One is beef and the other is spinach.
G: Oh, wow, I love lasagna. But why are you making so much?
L: It's my favorite winter comfort food, so I like to have some in the freezer for when I'm in the mood for it.
G: You know what goes well with lasagna? Garlic bread and a salad with oil and vinegar dressing.
L: Well, if you want to whip up a salad, I'll make the garlic bread and we can eat.

G: That was a delicious dinner. I was thinking of making my favorite comfort food on Thusday, if you want to come over.
L: It depends, what's your go-to dish for the winter?
G: I'm making a hearty beef stew with lots potatoes and onions in it.
L: My mom always said it's the kind of food that sticks to your ribs. I have the perfect red wine to go with it.
G: I take it you're coming over on Thursday?
L: You won't be able to keep me away!

L: When winter sets in, there's nothing better than beef stew and a glass of red wine.
G: When I was a kid, my mom would give my brother and me big bowls of it and we'd eat by the fireplace.
L: It sounds like you live for this kind of snowy evening.
G: The only thing we're missing is a fire.
L: I can take a hint! I'll have a roaring fire in your fireplace in minutes.

G: So, what's on the menu for this week's dinner?
L: I was thinking that maybe we could both make something just to switch it up. I'll make the main dish and you make a side dish.
G: What are you going to make?
L: Roasted chicken with chestnut stuffing. That with bowl of cream of mushroom soup definitely shoothes the soul.
G: I think you read my mind! I have a great mushroom soup recipe my aunt gave me.
L: Perfect! But let's eat at your house because don't have a fireplace.

Gwen : I was wondering where you learned to cook so well.
Lyle : As the oldest of four kids, I had to help my mom around the house. So, I was expected to learn to do everything.
Gwen : She taught you well! I've been counting the days until I could get my fix of your cooking.
Lyle : I'm flattered that you like it that much. You're an excellent cook as well.
Gwen : Thanks! Let's dig in before the food gets cold.
Lyle : But save room for dessert. I made my grandma's peach cobbler!
