정부에 따르면 이날 오전 10시 50분께 세종시 어진동 중앙동 청사 인근 바닥에서 행안부 소속 공무원 A씨가 쓰러진 채 발견됐다.

출동한 소방 당국은 심정지 상태인 A씨를 경찰에 인계했다. A씨는 사망한 것으로 확인됐다.

A씨는 이날 중앙동 15층 남측 테라스 흡연장에서 휴대전화를 두고 극단적 선택을 한 것으로 추정된다.

앞서 지난달 26일 오후 8시 16분께 국가정보자원관리원(국정자원) 5층 전산실 리튬이온배터리에서 화재가 발생, 배터리 384개와 서버가 불에 타 정부 전산시스템 647개가 마비됐다.

강제 수사에 착수한 대전경찰청 국정자원 화재 전담수사팀은 현재까지 국정자원 관계자 1명과 배터리 이전 공사 현장 업체 관계자 2명, 작업 감리업체 관계자 1명 등 4명을 업무상 실화 혐의로 입건한 상태다.

수사팀의 한 관계자는 연합뉴스와 통화에서 "A씨는 현재까지 참고인 조사나 수사 대상에는 포함되지 않은 무관한 사람인 것으로 보고 있다"고 밝혔다.
