SEOUL, Oct. 3 (Yonhap) -- President Lee Jae Myung on Friday expressed condolences over an interior ministry official who died while working on the restoration of online government services following a fire-caused outage.
​
The official, who had led a team overseeing the recovery efforts, fell to his death at the government complex in the central city of Sejong earlier in the day.
​
"I pray for the repose of the deceased, who dedicated himself until the very last moment of his life to fulfill his mission as a public servant, and I express sorrow and mourning together with the people," Lee wrote on Facebook.
​
Lee said the late official carried out his duties with a sense of responsibility to swiftly ease public inconvenience and restore the normal functions of the government.
​
"We will never forget his sacrifice and devotion, made behind the scenes, to restore the daily lives of the people and help the nation overcome its crisis," Lee added.
​
The fire broke out last Friday at the National Information Resources Service in Daejeon, about 140 kilometers south of Seoul, burning batteries and servers and crippling 647 online government services.
In the evening, Kang Hoon-sik, Lee's chief of staff, and Prime Minister Kim Min-seok, visited the official's funeral in Sejong to pay their respects.

(서울=연합뉴스) 고동욱 기자 = 이재명 대통령은 4일 정부 시스템 복구 업무를 담당하던 행정안전부 공무원 사망과 관련해 "국민 일상 회복과 국가 위기 극복을 위해 막중한 책임감으로 밤낮없이 묵묵히 애쓰는 공무원들의 근무 여건 개선에도 각별한 관심을 가져야 한다"고 당부했다.

김용범 대통령실 정책실장은 이날 주재한 'AI(인공지능)정부 인프라 거버넌스·혁신 태스크포스(TF)' 회의에서 이 같은 이 대통령의 언급을 공유했다고 서면 브리핑에서 밝혔다.

이에 TF는 국가정보자원관리원 화재 사건을 계기로 국민 안전에 직결되는 일선 현장 업무에 종사하는 공무원의 역량 제고와 처우 개선을 위해 노력하기로 했다고 김 실장은 전했다.

이날 회의는 국가전산망의 조속한 복구와 국가 정보 관리 시스템의 근본적 개선 방안을 논의하기 위해 열렸다.

TF는 우선 화재로 모두 타버린 96개 시스템의 대구센터 이전 등에 정부 부처와 민간 전문가, 민간 기업의 유휴 장비·인력이 신속히 투입될 수 있도록 민·관 역량을 총동원하기로 했다.

또 복구에 필요한 예산의 우선순위를 정해 예비비를 조속히 편성하고, 국회에도 내년도 예산 심의 과정에서 관련 예산의 증액 협조를 요청하기로 했다.

아울러 TF는 기존의 국가 정보화 시스템 관리·운영 체계를 원점에서 재검토하고 민간 역량과 해외 사례를 활용, AI 시대에 맞는 거버넌스를 근본적으로 재설계하기로 했다.

김 실장은 "앞으로도 국민 불편 해소를 위해 최대한 조속히 국가 전산망을 복구하는 데 총력을 다하겠다"며 "TF는 추석 연휴 기간에도 온·오프라인 회의를 계속해 조속한 시일 내 구체적인 개선 대책을 마련해 발표하겠다"고 말했다.
