노인을 구제함에는 은혜로서 하고 약한 사람을 구제함에는 방도로서 한다.
In aiding elderly, do so with benevolence; in aiding the weak, do so with strategic means.
은혜는 소홀하게 베풀어서는 안되는 것이며 방도는 멈춤이 없어야 하는 것이다.
Benevolence must never be extended with negligence,
and strategic means must never cease.
차라리 은혜와 방도를 베풀지 못한다 하더라도 소홀하게 베풀거나 방도를 멈추어서는 안되는 것이다.
Even if one cannot extend benevolence and strategic means at all,
one must never extend them negligently or allow the means to cease.

濟老以恩하고 濟弱以方이니 (제노이은하고 제약이방이니)
In alding the elderly, do so with benevolence; in alding the weak, do so with strategic means.
[ Help the elderly with kindness, and help the weak with proper methods.]
恩可不易이요 方可無窮이라 (은가불역이요 방가무궁이라)
Benevolence must never be extended with negligence, and strategic means must never cease.
[kindness should never be given carelessly, and the help provided must be continuous]
寧爲不恩不方이언정 不可無不易無窮이니라. (영위불은불방이언정 불가무불역무궁이니라.)
It is better to withhold benevolence and strategic means altogether,
rather than to eextend them negligently or allow the means to cease.
[One should rather not offer kindness or help at all, than do it half-heartedly or let it stop halfway.]
