미국 디트로이트 테크노에 데릭 메이가 있다면 유럽에는 '테크노의 대부' 혹은 '테크노의 교황'이라고 불려지는 스벤 바쓰가 있다. 스벤은 현재 최고 인기를 누리고 있는 슈퍼스타 DJ/프로듀서 겸 가수활동까지 병행하는 만능 엔터테이너이다. 오펜바하에서 태어난 그는 'Off' (Organization For Fun)라는 인기 있는 밴드에서 보컬리스트로 활동을 하다가 1982년 부 터 클럽에서 디제이 생활을 시작하며 솔로로 전향한다. 자신의 클럽인 'Omen'을 오픈 하면서 테크노 확산운동에도 큰 이바지를 하였다. 자신의 독립 레이블을 설립하여 지난 15여 년간 수 많은 솔로 앨범들과 Moby와 같은 아티스트와의 공동 프로젝트 앨범을 발표하는 등 음반 프로듀서로도 그의 탁월 한 실력을 인정 받아 오고 있다. 스벤 바쓰는 90년대 중반 'Accident In Paradise'이라는 혁신적인 앨범을 발표하는데 여기서 스벤은 테크노 뿐 만 아니라 트랜스, 브레이크 비트, 하우스 등 일렉트로니카의 많은 서브 장르를 접목시키면서 자신만의 유니크 하며 전혀 새로운 테크노 사운드로 재 창조하여 들려주었는데 이 앨범은 지금까지도 평론가들은 물론 많은 테크노 매니아들로 부 터 회자되고 있는 하나의 '사건'이였다. 스벤은 한때 일렉트로니카 팝 스타일 보컬리스트로 변신 굉장히 트렌디하고 나르시즘적인 보컬 앨범을 발표하여 팬들을 놀라게도 하였다. 전천후 팔방미인인 스벤 바쓰는 테크노의 살아있는 전설로 추앙 받고 있다.

Sven Vath is the epitome of the German "global player." His name is inseparable from the German club scene of the nineties. Vath's albums like "Accident in Paradise" and "The Harlekin, The Robot, & The Ballet Dancer" are landmarks of contemporary electronic music. He has a new album out, "Contact" which includes the heralded cut "Your Sweat. "It is a bridge between the eighties and now" says Vath. "For me, it refers directly to the music bands like DAF did then, without it being all retro, though. For a lot of people, sweat is something quite unsavory. I find dancing sweat very erotic. It means intensity and it's the perfect image for letting go, for succumb-ing to the mood." German DJ/musician Sven Vath is truly one of the driving forces behind modern electronic music. His label, Harthouse, is responsible for unleashing many highly creative artists, including SpiceLab, Hardfloor, and Speedy J. As a DJ, his legendary marathon sets have received acclaim around the world. In addition, Vath creates his own innovative music.

최근 시카고는 물론 미주지역에서 가장 많은 각광과 인기를 얻고 있는 DJ겸 프로듀서 앤젤 엘러니스는 디스코 더브, 하우스 그리고 미니멀 테크노등의 앨범을 연속적으로 발표하면서 현재 최고의 전성시대를 보내고 있다. 1987년 첫 앨범 발표 후 지금까지 모두 30여장의 앨범과 17장의 리 믹스 앨범을
제작하는 왕성한 창작력을 보여주고 있는데 모든 발표된 작품에서 그 만의 독특한 스타일이 계속해서 묻어져 나오고 있다. 14세 부터 스핀을 시작하면서 미국 언더 그라운드 음악에서 많은 활동을 보여 주고 있는 그는 93 부터 97년 까지 레이브 프로모션 제작에도 직접 참여하면서 댄스 뮤직 비즈니스에서도 두각을 나타낸다. 뉴 밀레니움에 들어서도 여전히 바쁘고 새로운 앨범들을 발표하면서 명실공히 미국 테크노 씬을 이끌어 가고 있는 리딩 음악인이다.

One of the fastest rising stars of the Chicago electronic music scene has got to be none other than Angel Alanis. In a very short amount of time, Angel has become one of Chicago's most consistent producers with an uninterrupted flow of releases that run the gamut from disco filter workouts to house music, and all the way through minimal techno.
His first record was released in 1997 and now, three years later, his music can be found on labels all across the world. His techno has graced the likes of Subspace, Contaminated, Konsequent, 4 Track, Thrust, Planet Of Drums, and Contact.
His house appears on UC Music, Afterhours, Soul Phusion, IHR, Jasper Stone, and Catalyst Recordings. He has worked alongside Brian "Halo" Varga (as Trunkids on IHR), Rees Urban (on Soul Phusion), and in collaboration with Colette (on Moody). As a remixer, Angel has put his Chi-town touch on the works of Frankie Bones (for BML), Joey Negro (for Subliminal), Paul Johnson (for Moody), Robbie Rivera (for IHR), Pump Panel (for Missile), CZR (for Legato), Kool Moe Dee (for Jive Electro), DJ Icey (for Sire - London), and Jesse Saunders (for Just Say Records). Last year he put out his first album "The Subconcious State of Techno" on Contaminated Records to the acclaim of Dave Angel, Judge Jules, Laidback Luke, and Armand van Helden.All we can do is stand back, watch, and listen to this man work us, his gear, and the music business into a frenzy.
