[틈틈이 영어공부] I'm ham-fisted

- 영한 : 손재주가 없는, 서투른, 똥손

- 영영 : If you describe someone as ham-fisted, you mean that they are clumsy, especially in the way that they use their hands.

- 동일 : ham-handed

- 설명 : 넓적다리/허벅지(ham)와 주먹(fist)의 결합어로 허벅지같은 손을 가져서 불편/서툴고 둔하다는 의미입니다.

- 예문 :

Larry: You're so good with your hands. I'm ham-fisted.
래리: 넌 손재주가 아주 좋은가보다, 난 아주 똥손이야.

Jordan: It's a wonder that I finished this table. I had no patience for it.
조던: 탁자를 다 만드니 놀라웠어. 난 그런 끈기는 없었거든.

Larry: Wow! That's surprising too.
래리: 와! 그것도 대단하다.

Jordan: There are a lot of things you don't know about me.
조던: 너 나에 대해서 모르는 게 많아.

▶put together: 튼튼하다, 건장하다.
“Tom is really put together. Does he lift weights?” 
(탐은 정말 몸이 건장해. 역기 드는 운동한대?)

▶(in one’s) younger days: 어렸을 때.
“My younger days were very stressful.” 
(난 어렸을 때 마음 고생 정말 많았어.)

▶be good with one's hands: 손재주가 좋은, 잘 하는
"She's good at sewing, she's good with her hands."
(그녀는 바느질에 능숙해요/잘해요, 손재주가 좋죠.)
