Baek Se-hee, 35 years old, the author of the bestselling book *‘I Want to Die, but I Want to Eat Tteokbokki’*, passed away after donating organs to five people through long-term organ donation.

On the 17th, the Korea Organ Donation Agency announced that Baek donated her heart, lungs, liver, and both kidneys via brain-dead organ donation the previous day before passing. Baek gained widespread acclaim in 2018 for her essay *‘I Want to Die, but I Want to Eat Tteokbokki’*, which compiled her conversations with her doctor after being diagnosed with depression. The book was selected as "Book of the Year" by Yes24, Aladin, and other platforms.

According to the publisher, the book sold approximately 600,000 copies domestically and was exported to about 25 countries.

베스트셀러 ‘죽고 싶지만 떡볶이는 먹고 싶어’의 작가인 백세희(35)씨가 장기 기증을 통해 5명에게 새 삶을 주고 세상을 떠났다.

17일 한국장기조직기증원은 백씨가 전날 뇌사 장기 기증으로 심장, 폐장, 간장, 신장(양측)을 기증한 뒤 숨졌다고 밝혔다. 백씨는 지난 2018년 자신이 우울증을 진단받고 담당의와 상담한 이야기를 책으로 엮은 에세이 ‘죽고 싶지만 떡볶이는 먹고 싶어’로 큰 사랑을 받았다. 이 책은 예스24·알라딘 등에서 ‘올해의 책’으로 꼽혔다. 출판사 측에 따르면 이 책은 국내에서 약 60만부가 팔렸을 뿐 아니라 약 25국에도 수출됐다.
