마태복음 20장

1. "For the kingdom of heaven is like a landowner who went out early in the morning to hire men to work in his vineyard.

“왜냐하면 하늘나라는 땅 주인과 같기 때문이다/ 그의 포도원에서 일할 사람들을 고용하기 위해 아침 일찍 나간.

2. He agreed to pay them a denarius for the day and sent them into his vineyard.

그는 그들에게 하루에 한 데나리온을 주기로 약속하고 그들을 그의 포도원으로 보냈다.

3. "About the third hour he went out and saw others standing in the marketplace doing nothing.

“삼시(오전 9시)쯤에 그는 나가서 아무것도 하지 않은 채 시장에 서있는 다른 사람들을 보았다.

4. He told them, `You also go and work in my vineyard, and I will pay you whatever is right.'

그가 그들에게 말했다, ‘너희들도 가서 내 포도원에서 일하라, 그러면 나는 너희에게 무엇이든 적절하게 줄 것이다.’

5. So they went. "He went out again about the sixth hour and the ninth hour and did the same thing.

그래서 그들이 갔다. “그는 다시 육시(오전 12시)와 구시(오후 3시)경에 나가서 같은 일을 했다.

6. About the eleventh hour he went out and found still others standing around. He asked them, `Why have you been standing here all day long doing nothing?'

십일시(오후 5시)경에 그가 나가서 여전히 주위에 서있는 다른 사람들을 발견했다. 그가 그들에게 물었다, “왜 너희는 아무것도 하지 않은 채 하루 종일 여기에 서있느냐?’

7. "`Because no one has hired us,' they answered. "He said to them, `You also go and work in my vineyard.'

“‘아무도 우리를 고용하지 않았기 때문입니다,’ 그들이 대답했다. “그가 그들에게 말했다. ‘너희도 또한 가서 나의 포도원에서 일하라.’

8. "When evening came, the owner of the vineyard said to his foreman, `Call the workers and pay them their wages, beginning with the last ones hired and going on to the first.'

9. "The workers who were hired about the eleventh hour came and each received a denarius.

“십일 시경에 고용되었던 일꾼들이 와서 한 데나리온을 각각 받았다.

10. So when those came who were hired first, they expected to receive more. But each one of them also received a denarius.

그래서 처음 고용되었던 사람들이 왔을 때, 그들은 더 받기를 기대했다. 그러나 그들 각각도 또한 한 데나리온을 받았다.

11. When they received it, they began to grumble against the landowner.

12. `These men who were hired last worked only one hour,' they said, `and you have made them equal to us who have borne the burden of the work and the heat of the day.'

‘마지막에 고용된 이 사람들은 단지 한 시간을 일했습니다.’ 그들이 말했다, ‘그리고 당신은 그들을 일의 고생을 견디고 낮의 더위를 견딘 우리에게 동등하게 만들었습니다.

13. "But he answered one of them, `Friend, I am not being unfair to you. Didn't you agree to work for a denarius?

14. Take your pay and go. I want to give the man who was hired last the same as I gave you.

너의 임금을 가지고 가라. 나는 마지막에 고용된 사람에게 너희에게 준 것과 같은 것을 주기를 원한다.

15. Don't I have the right to do what I want with my own money? Or are you envious because I am generous?'

내 소유의 돈을 가지고 내가 원하는 것을 행할 권리를 내가 가지고 있지 않느냐? 그렇지 않으면 네가 시기하느냐(거슬리느냐)/ 내가 관대하기 때문에?’

16. "So the last will be first, and the first will be last."

“그러므로 나중 된 자가 먼저 될 것이다, 그리고 먼저 된 자가 나중 될 것이다.”

17. Now as Jesus was going up to Jerusalem, he took the twelve disciples aside and said to them,

한편 예수께서 예루살렘으로 올라가고 계실 때, 그는 12제자를 따로 데리고 그들에게 말씀하셨다.

18. "We are going up to Jerusalem, and the Son of Man will be betrayed to the chief priests and the teachers of the law. They will condemn him to death

“우리는 예루살렘으로 올라가고 있다, 그리고 인자가 대제사장과 율법 교사들을 향해 배반당할 것이다. 그들은 죽음까지 그를 정죄할 것이다.

19. and will turn him over to the Gentiles to be mocked and flogged and crucified. On the third day he will be raised to life!"

그리고 조롱당하고 채찍질 당하고 십자가에 못박히도록 이방인들에게 넘겨줄 것이다. 삼 일만에 그가 생명으로 일으켜질 것이다.

20. Then the mother of Zebedee's sons came to Jesus with her sons and, kneeling down, asked a favor of him.

그때 세베대의 어머니가 그녀의 아들들과 함께 예수께 와서 무릎을 꿇고 그의 호의를 청했다.

21. "What is it you want?" he asked. She said, "Grant that one of these two sons of mine may sit at your right and the other at your left in your kingdom."

“네가 원하는 것이 무엇이냐?” 그가 물었다. 그녀가 말했다, “당신의 나라에서 이 두 명의 아들 중에 하나는 당신의 우편에, 다른 하나는 당신의 좌편에 앉을 것을 허가해 주세요.

22. "You don't know what you are asking," Jesus said to them. "Can you drink the cup I am going to drink?" "We can," they answered.

“너는 네가 무엇을 요구하고 있는지 알지 못한다,” 예수께서 그들에게 말씀하셨다. “너희는 내가 마시려고 하는 잔을 마실 수 있느냐?” “우리는 할 수 있습니다,” 그들이 대답했다.

23. Jesus said to them, "You will indeed drink from my cup, but to sit at my right or left is not for me to grant. These places belong to those for whom they have been prepared by my Father."

예수께서 그들에게 말씀하셨다, “너희가 참으로 나의 잔으로부터 마실 것이다, 그러나 나의 우편이나 좌편에 않는 것은 내가 허가할 것이 아니다. 이 자리들은 나의 아버지에 의해 준비된 자들에게 속해있다.”

24. When the ten heard about this, they were indignant with the two brothers.

열 명이 이것에 대해 들었을 때, 그들은 두 형제들 때문에 분개하였다.

25. Jesus called them together and said, "You know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their high officials exercise authority over them.

예수께서 그들을 함께 부르시고 말씀하셨다. “너희는 이방인의 지배자들이 그들 위에 군림한다는 것을 안다, 그리고 그들의 고관들이 그들 위에 권세를 행사하는 것을 안다.

26. Not so with you. Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant,

너희에게는 그렇지 않다. 대신, 너희 사이에서 크게 되기를 원하는 자는 누구든지 너희의 종이 되어야만 한다.

27. and whoever wants to be first must be your slave --

그리고 첫째가 되기를 원하는 자는 누구든지 너희의 종이 되어야만 한다.

28. just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many."

바로 인자가 종이 섬김받기 위해 오지 않고 섬기려고 온 것처럼, 그리고 그의 생명을 많은 사람들을 위한 대속물(몸값, 배상금)로 주기위해서 온 것처럼.

29. As Jesus and his disciples were leaving Jericho, a large crowd followed him.

예수와 그의 제자들이 여리고를 떠나고 있을 때, 많은 군중이 그를 따랐다.

30. Two blind men were sitting by the roadside, and when they heard that Jesus was going by, they shouted, "Lord, Son of David, have mercy on us!"

두 명의 시각 장애인이 길가에 앉아있었다, 그리고 그들이 예수께서 지나가고 계신다는 것을 들었을 때, 그들이 소리쳤다, “주님, 다윗의 자손이여, 우리에게 자비를 가지소서!”

31. The crowd rebuked them and told them to be quiet, but they shouted all the louder, "Lord, Son of David, have mercy on us!"

군중이 그들을 꾸짖고 그들에게 조용히 하라고 말했다, 그러나 그들은 완전히 더 크게 외쳤다, “주님, 다윗의 자손이여, 우리에게 자비를 가지소서!”

32. Jesus stopped and called them. "What do you want me to do for you?" he asked.

예수께서 멈추시고 그들을 부르셨다. “너희는 내가 너희를 위해 무엇을 하기를 원하느냐?” 그가 물으셨다.

33. "Lord," they answered, "we want our sight."

“주님,” 그들이 대답했다, “우리는 우리의 봄을 원합니다.”

34. Jesus had compassion on them and touched their eyes. Immediately they received their sight and followed him.

예수께서 그들에게 동정심을 가지시고 그들의 눈을 만지셨다. 즉시 그들이 그들의 시력을 받았고 그를 따랐다.
