- 영한 : 시간이 어느덧 지나다 인사도 없이 가다, 사라지다, 슬그머니 떠나다.

- 영영 : 

to leave quietly without attracting attention
if a period of time slips away, it passes more quickly than you realize
to disappear, to die or to stop existing

- 유사/동일 : 살짝 도망가다-sneak away/out/off

- 예문 : 

If they eat seaweed, success might slip away.
미역을 먹으면, 성공이 미끄러져버린다고(사라진다고) 생각한다.

크리스: 시간이 어느덧 지나간 것처럼 느껴진다는 거야?

Marian: Yes! That's exactly how I feel.
매리언: 그래! 바로 그런 느낌이야.

Chris: What brought this feeling on?
크리스: 왜 그런 느낌이 드는데?

Marian: Summer is almost over and I haven't been to the beach once.
매리언: 여름이 거의 다 가는데 바닷가에 한 번도 못 갔어.

Chris: That is a travesty. Can you survive without a trip to the beach?
크리스: 그거 우습네. 바닷가로 여행 못 가면 못 사는 거야?

Marian: Make fun of me if you must but I don't think it's funny.
매리언: 놀리고 싶으면 놀려 한데 난 하나도 재미없어.

Chris: Because you take it too seriously.
크리스: 네가 너무 심각하게 받아들이니까 그렇지.

Marian: But I've always gone many times in the summer.
매리언: 여름이면 항상 여러 번 바닷가에 갔단 말이야.

Chris: Maybe it isn't as important as it used to be.
크리스: 바닷가 가는 게 예전처럼 중요하지 않게 됐는지도 모르지.


[기억할만한 표현]
▶bring (something) on: (무엇을) 일으키다. 초래하다.

▶make fun of (somebody): (누구를) 놀리다.
