[Scene: A student walks past a trash can with his bag slung over one shoulder.]
(Trash Can, offscreen):Trash Can: Hey! You there!
(The student stops and looks around, confused.)
Student: Huh? Who said that?
Trash Can: Down here. It’s me—the trash can!
Student: Wait... you can talk?
Trash Can: People throw everything into me-food, plastic, paper... It‘s a disaster. I can’t move, but I need help.
Student: It is really messy... and it smells awful too.
Trash Can: Will you clean up? And don‘t forget to sort the trash—plastics go in recycling!
Student: Alright. It’s weird, but l‘ll help.
(The student starts picking up trash.)
Student: This already feels better. I want to bring my friends here too.
Trash Can: You’re the first person to care. Thank you!
Student: I want this place to be clean and nice. A place where friends can come too.
Trash Can: That makes me so happy! Thank you!
Student: It would be better to do this with others too.
Trash Can Yes! Cleaning together is faster—and more fun!
(The student moves toward the tree with the trash can beside him.)
Tree: I‘m hurting too. Plastic gets stuck in my roots and I can’t breathe.
Student: Even the tree... can talk? This is really serious.
Tree: You students can be so careless-both of us know it well.
Student: I‘m really sorry. I used to throw away trash without thinking.
Trash Can: It’s not too late. A student like you gives me hope.
Student: I‘ll help. I’ll start with what I can do. I‘ll clean this place right now!
Tree: The biggest changes come slowly, but they last.
(The student comes back and starts picking up the trash one by one.)
[Scene: Later. The flower bed is clean, and birds are chirping.]
Trash Can: Look around. What do you see?
Student: Peace. Beauty. Life. This is how it‘s supposed to be.
Trash Can: You’re one of the most thoughtful students l‘ve ever met.
Tree: Nature needs people like you.
Student: This isn’t the end. My friends and I will keep cleaning the school flower bed so it stays beautiful.
Tree (smiling): This is what I was hoping for, Jiwoo. It feels like our role is complete now.
Student: Thank you, Trash can. I‘ll make you proud.
