*put (someone) down

- 영한 : (특히 다른 사람들 앞에서) ~를 바보로 만들다/깎아내리다/깔아뭉개다, 헐뜯다, 비난하다, 깔보다, 깔보다

- 영영 : to make someone feel foolish and unimportant, to belittle or degrade someone or something.

- 다른의미 : (글·메모 등을) 적다/적어 두다

ROLAND: I'm sorry. I didn't mean to get you upset.
롤랜드: 미안해. 당신 기분 나쁘게 하려던 거 아니었어.

LINDA: "I'm sorry isn't enough. You've got to give me more respect."
린다: "미안하다는 말로는 충분하지 않아. 나를 존중해 줘."

ROLAND: "Point taken."
롤랜드: "알았어."


[기억할만한 표현]
▶hurt (one's) feelings: (누구의) 감정을 상하게 하다
"You hurt your sister's feelings when you talk to her like that."
"너가 그렇게 말할 때마다 네 동생 맘이 상하잖아."

▶put up with (someone or something): 참다
"The boss isn't going to put up with you coming to work late."
"네 보스가 너 매일 늦게 출근하는 거 더 이상 참지 않을 거야."

▶Point taken: 알겠다/당신 말이 옳다.(자신을 반대·비판하는 상대방의 의견을 받아들일 때 하는 말)
