SEOUL, Nov. 6 (Yonhap) -- President Lee Jae Myung on Thursday instructed authorities to deploy all available resources to rescue people trapped under a boiler tower at a thermal power plant in the southeastern city of Ulsan.
​
Lee ordered officials to "mobilize all available equipment and personnel" to respond to the incident, especially to rescue those trapped, presidential spokesperson Kim Nam-jun said.
​
Lee also called for thorough safety measures to prevent any secondary accidents during the rescue operation, he added.
​
The boiler tower collapsed shortly after 2 p.m. at a thermal power plant at the Ulsan branch of Korea East-West Power Co., a state-run utility company, leaving seven people presumed trapped.

(서울=연합뉴스) 고동욱 기자 = 이재명 대통령은 6일 울산화력발전소에서 보일러타워 붕괴로 인력이 매몰되는 사고가 발생한 것과 관련해 "사고 수습, 특히 인명 구조에 장비·인력 등 가용 자원을 총동원하라"고 지시했다.

김남준 대통령실 대변인은 이날 이 대통령이 울산 매몰 사고를 보고받고 이같이 지시했다고 밝혔다.

이 대통령은 아울러 "구조 인력의 2차 안전사고 방지에도 만전을 기해달라"고 당부했다고 김 대변인은 덧붙였다.

앞서 이날 오후 2시 7분께 울산 남구 용잠동 한국동서발전 울산발전본부 울산화력발전소에서 60m 높이 보일러 타워가 무너졌다.

소방 당국은 신고를 받고 출동해 2명을 구조했으며, 현재 7명이 매몰된 것으로 추정된다.
