Looking Back on the History of My Life of Faith
In my family, [the line from] my great-grandfather, grandfather, and father—three generations—descended as each being born an only child, but it was at my father’s time when 12 brothers were born.
I was the seventh son among them, and my name is Man Hee (萬熙). Why is it “Man Hee”? According to the words of my grandfather and mother, my grandfather had chosen the name “Light (熙)” after having a dream (conception dream ) where he saw heaven (sky) open and a great, bright light come and shine on my mother, and after I was born, they started calling me by that name.
However, I was born to a poor farming family in the countryside and so grew up in hardship. I [continued] to live in a farmhouse after finishing my service in the military. When I was young, I heard from my grandfather that God exists in heaven, and I [grew up] believing it. My grandfather prayed to God [every] morning and evening with his eyes open, and I also prayed following (imitating) him.
In order to do farm work, I slept in a farmer’s hut in the field with my father. Just like in my grandfather’s days, I prayed to God every morning and evening. Yet, that time was a time when I did not know about churches, pastors, or even the Bible. Back then, I always prayed with my eyes open, just as I had seen my grandfather pray.
One evening, a great, bright, shining star came above my head. Bewildered, I ran inside the house and woke up my father who was asleep in his room. “A star came! A star came!” My father, also looking bewildered, came out to look [at the star] and stared at it for a long time saying, “Ah~ That star is big. It’s bright. It’s bright. In the past as well, when a man of value (an outstanding individual) appeared, a star would also appear.” From that time on, this great star appeared every evening for three days. [A star was with me, above my head (from afar) day and night, and I called it “my star.”]
The next day, I was on a mountain path when I saw someone who was radiating light and dressed in new white clothes. I fell prostrate before him (bowed before him), and by his guidance, I went up a hill, made a promise of loyalty and filial piety to God with [my] blood (I recorded what was promised on a piece of paper with [my] blood), and began my life of faith (my personal life of faith).
On that day, God showed me many miracles (things that a human cannot do). That day, a Friday evening, I met a pastor and began my life of faith in church. From that day on until today, I served for the sake of the kingdom and people, for the churches and the world.
I recently read the first and second Corinthians. [These books] have a lot of content that is similar to my circumstances. I, like Paul and like the 12 disciples, have been beaten countless times, imprisoned a few times, slandered, cursed, and persecuted; I have gone up to the third heaven in a dream-like state and saw heaven in the spiritual world, and have heard the words spoken by spiritual beings; I have met and seen God, Jesus, the angels, and even the opposing pastors who are [all] recorded in the approximately 25 pages of the book of Revelation; and I have fought against the opposers.
Like Paul, I still cannot distinguish if the spiritual beings I met were in a dream or in reality.
All of this testimony is the testimony of the fulfilled realities that cannot be denied, and it is the testimony that allows one to believe in the word of promise and work according to its will.
Just as God and Jesus became one, we, too, have become one with Jesus. [This is the case] whether we live or die. Truly, we are one in God and Jesus and in truth and righteousness. Quarreling and fighting occur because one another’s truth and righteousness are different. God is truth and righteousness.
To the believers of this era, do you believe in God, Jesus, and their words? The promised pastor in the Old Testament was Jesus who is the son of God. Those who hung Jesus on the cross according to what was recorded in the Old Testament were the pastors of Jerusalem. Even after seeing this, are you once again becoming one with the devil’s pastors and persecuting the pastor promised in the New Testament?
Come out before the Bible. Let us be judged on who is true by the word of promise. Let us be judged on who has been born of whose seed among the two kinds of seed that were sown after Jesus’ first coming.
