Whenever I teach Haedong Kundo training, I do emphasize that we should be able to, first - Relax, and feel the energy, second, Focus, and see it, third, Realize, and do it in order to get continuous experiences that will guide martial arts training as well as lead better life while living. Anyway, let's get to the point! See it below. Why do we have to do like that at the below training of Drawing & Shething and Front Cutting with swords, and even without weapons and so on in martial arts training, especially from the beginning stage?
If you don't, you will never understand the fundamental core, which is the Flow of Energy. When you come to understand the Flow of Energy in your body, then you can correct your movements in martial arts training. It does not say or matter with any kind of unique abilities of federations or associations. It is to try to do by the principle of the movements of the body with the weapons or not.
As you understand more deeply and expand, you will come to know that martial arts training has a direct connection to the healing system.
1. How to draw and sheath a sword - Try to let the sword follow your body. Your body will follow your mind. Then more natural and smooth, but you can use it quickly and forcefully depending on the situation.
2. How to do a front cut (or a straight cut): just try to up & down your sword as your body moves automatically by switching your hands, or wrists, or arms, or shoulders, then you can do it naturally and efficiently by setting your angle correctly and saving more energy.
3. How to connect with healing system in training as we are getting to know the flow of Energy is to first relax and feel the energy, then by mindfulness and awareness which can be a tool for achievements I wish. Then, you have to be able to perceive the starting point that caused a certain symptoms or painfullness in the body and find causative point to do something for healing.
