​5월 17일 사도행전 7:30 사십 년이 차매 천사가 시내 산 광야 가시나무 떨기 불꽃 가운데서 그에게 보이거늘

사도행전 7:33-34 주께서 이르시되 네 발의 신을 벗으라 네가 서 있는 곳은 거룩한 땅이니라 내 백성이 애굽에서 괴로움 받음을 내가 확실히 보고 그 탄식하는 소리를 듣고 그들을 구원하려고 내려왔노니 이제 내가 너를 애굽으로 보내리라 하시니라

하나님께서 일하는 우리를 한동안 따로 불러내셔서, 다시 일하러 나서기까지 침묵하며 배우라고 하십니다. 기다림으로 보내는 이 시간은 결코 낭비가 아닙니다.

옛날에 어떤 기사가 적에게 쫓겨 달아나다가, 말편자를 갈아 줘야 한다는 생각을 하게 되었습니다. 물론 몇 번을 고쳐 생각해도 계속 도망가는 것이 최선이었지만 왠지 그는 잠시만이라도 길가의 대장간에 멈춰 서고 싶었고, 그것이 더 현명할 듯싶었습니다. 그는 뒤에서 쫓아오는 적들의 말발굽 소리를 들었지만 편자부터 교체하고 더 달아나려고 대장간 앞에서 기다렸습니다.

마침내 적들이 모습을 보이며 백여 미터 후방까지 추격해 왔지만, 그는 즉시 안장에 올라타 바람처럼 내달렸습니다. 그리고 그 한 번의 멈춤으로 인해 더 빨리 달아날 수 있었습니다.

하나님께서는 빈번히 우리더러 기다렸다 가라고 하실 것입니다. 우리의 이전 임무에서 얻은 피로를 완전히 떨쳐 내고 다음 여정, 다음 일로 들어가도록 하심입니다.

기다림! 그렇다, 인내의 기다림!

다음 여정 밝히 드러날 때까지.

내 안 깊은 곳에서 나를 부르는

그 음성 듣겠네.

기다림! 그렇다, 희망의 기다림!

그 희망 결코 어두워지지 않네..

주께서 나를 인도하겠다 약속하셨고

나는 그분께 귀 기울이므로,

기다림, 포기할 수 없는 기다림 !

오늘은 아닐지라도

주께서 곧, 내 미래의 길로

들어가는 문 여실 테니

기다림! 그렇다. 기다리고 또 기다림!

나 오래 기다렸지만, 주께서 당신의

목적을 잠시 거두시고 지체하심이

결코 부당하지 않음을 나는 아네.

기다림! 그렇다, 기다리고 또 기다림!

주께서는 늦지 않으시리, 그분께서

문빗장 벗겨 내시기를 나 기다리니

나의 이 기다림 그분께서 아시므로,

Season of Waiting

And when forty years were expired, there appeared to him in the wilderness... an angel of the Lord... saying.... now come, I will send thee into Egypt — Acts 7:30-34

Often the Lord calls us aside from our work for a season, and bids us be still and learn ere we go forth again to minister. There is no time lost in such waiting hours.

Fleeing from his enemies, the ancient knight found that his horse needed to be re-shod. Prudence seemed to urge him on without delay, but higher wisdom taught him to halt a few minutes at the blacksmith’s forge by the way, to have the shoe replaced; and although he heard the feet of his pursuers galloping hard behind, yet he waited those minutes until his charger was refitted for his flight. And then, leaping into his saddle just as they appeared a hundred yards away, he dashed away from them with the fleetness of the wind, and knew that his halting had hastened his escape.

So often God bids us tarry ere we go, and fully recover ourselves for the next stage of the journey and work. — Days of Heaven upon Earth

Waiting! Yes, patiently waiting!

Till next steps made plain shall be;

To hear, with the inner hearing,

The Voice that will call for me.

Waiting! Yes, hopefully waiting!

With hope that need not grow dim;

The Master is pledged to guide me,

And my eyes are unto Him.

Waiting! Expectantly waiting!

Perhaps it may be today

The Master will quickly open

The gate to my future way.

Waiting! Yes, waiting! still waiting!

I know, though I’ve waited long,

That, while He withholds His purpose,

His waiting cannot be wrong.

Waiting! Yes, waiting! still waiting!

The Master will not be late:

He knoweth that I am waiting

For Him to unlatch the gate.
