   Chapter  25 : Yo-geom(要儉,요검 - Practicing Frugality)... Demanding Frugality... Item 175.

要儉(요검)은 검소하도록 힘쓰는 것이다.

  Yo-geom means making dedicated efforts to live frugally.  

빗나간 행실은 사치에서부터 생기게 되며 음란함도 사치에서부터 생긴 즉 

  Deviant behavior stems from extravagance, and lewdness also arises from luxury.

힘써서 검약하도록 하면서 빗나간 행실과 음란한 짓을 하는 사람은 아직까지 없었다.

 Therefore, there has never been a oerson who actively strives for frugality

  while simultaneously engaging in deviant behavior or lewd acts.

 검약하면 부족한 것이없어 구하고 져 하는 것도없어 검약하다는 것은 평생토록 앞서서 깨닫는 일이 된다.

  When you practice frugality, you lack nothing, so there is nothing you greedily seek

  or desire from dthers. 

  Thus, ilving frugally becomes a lifelong, guiding realization that leads one′s path.

要儉者는 爲務儉也라 (요검자는 위무검야라)

 Those who practice frugality make it their primary duty to strive for a simple life.

行乖生於奢하고 淫亂이 生於奢하나니 (행괴생어사하고 음란이 생어사하나니)

  Deviant conduct is born of extravagance, and lewdness arises from luxury.

未有務儉而爲行乖淫亂者也라 (미유무검이위행괴음란자야라)

  There has never been a person who devoted themeslves yet engaged in deviant and lewd behavior.

儉則無求요 儉爲終身之先覺이니라 (검즉무구요 검위종신지선각이니라.)

  If one is frugal, they will have no greed to seek from dthers;

  thus, practing frugality becomes a formost, lifelong awakening.
