A: My kids were so happy today. They got money from their older relatives after bowing to them.
B: Oh, that's what's called a 'sebae,' right?/ A: Yes, it's like New Year's gift money.
B: I bet your kids were excited. What do they do with the money?/ A: They either save it or use it to buy things they want.
A: 우리 아이들이 오늘 너무 기뻐했어요. 친척 어른들에게 절을 한 후 돈을 받았거든요.
B: 아, 그걸 '세배'라고 하는 거죠?/ A: 맞아요. 설날에 받는 세뱃돈 같은 거죠.
B: 아이들이 아주 신났겠어요. 그럼 그 돈으로 뭘 하나요?/ A: 저금을 하거나 자기들이 원하는 것을 사는 데 쓰죠.
A: Can you believe how fast January is going by?/ B: I know, right? It feels like the year just started.
A: But it's nice to have the Lunar New Year, another chance to start fresh./ B: Yes, I agree. It feels like a second New Year's Day.
A: True. Maybe this time I'll stick to my resolutions.
