1. 히말라야 대홍수 이틀 만에 또다른 홍수가 우려되고 있습니다.

   고산 지대에 자연적으로 생긴 대형 호수에서 물이 넘치고 있습니다.

   호수 둑이 무너질 가능성 때문에 구조 작업이 한때 중단되기도 했습니다.

   호수에는 물이 앞으로도 계속 유입될 거로 보여 네팔과 중국 당국이 예의 주시하고 있습니다.

   Another flood is feared just two days after the great Himalayan flood.

   The water is overflowing from a large lake that formed naturally in the highland area.

   Rescue operations were temporarily halted because of the possibility that the lake’s embankment could collapse.

   It appears that water will continue to flow into the lake, so the authorities in Nepal and China are watching it closely.

2. 2차 홍수 우려 등으로 현지에 있는 우리 정부 신속대응팀의 현장 진입이 쉽지 않은 상황입니다.

   사고 현장에 고립됐던 마지막 우리 국민 한 명은 안전 지역으로 이동한 가운데, 정부는 군 수송기 투입 등도 네팔 당국과 협의 중입니다.

   Due to concerns such as a second flood, it is not easy for our government’s rapid response team on site to enter the area.

   The last of our citizens, who had been stranded at the scene of the accident, has been moved to a safe area, while the government is also consulting with Nepalese authorities about deploying military transport aircraft.

3. 이번 주 초 북한 신의주 지역에 14시간 동안 330mm가 넘는 폭우가 쏟아졌습니다.

   북한 당국은 피해 상황에 대한 어떠한 언급도 하지 않고 있는데, KBS가 위성으로 확인해 보니 일부 농경지와 저지대에서 대규모 침수가 확인됐습니다.

   Earlier this week, more than 330mm of heavy rain fell over 14 hours in the Sineuiju area of North Korea.

   The North Korean authorities have not made any comment on the damage, but when KBS confirmed it via satellite, large-scale flooding was observed in some farmland and low-lying areas.

4. 이재명 대통령이 결국 대법관 후보자 한 명을 바꿔서 다시 제청해달라고 요청했습니다.

   이 대통령은 절차적 하자와 공정성 훼손 등을 이유로 들며, 조희대 대법원장이 서면 제청한 후보자 두 명 가운데 손봉기 후보자에 대해 문제를 제기했습니다.

   President Lee Jae-myeong ultimately asked to change one Supreme Court nominee and request that it be nominated again.

   The president cited procedural flaws and damage to fairness as reasons, raising issues with candidate Son Bong-gi among the two nominees recommended in writing by Chief Justice Cho Hee-dae.

5. 제주 실종 신고 허위 종결 혐의로 구속된 부 경장이 피해자와 통화한 적 없다고 일부 혐의를 시인했습니다.

   이번 사건을 두고 경찰의 부실한 대응에도 비판이 쏟아지는 가운데, 경찰은 실종 재신고가 들어왔을 때도 늑장 대응에 나섰던 걸로 드러났습니다.

   Deputy police commander who was arrested on charges of closing a missing person report in Jeju as false, admitted to some charges, saying he never spoke with the victim.

   Amid mounting criticism over the police’s inadequate response to this case, it has come to light that the police also delayed action when a missing person re-report was filed.
