3.  묵상 칼럼: 불을 꺼뜨리지 않는 삶

1)  레위기 6:13 "불은 끊임없이 제단 위에 피워 꺼지지 않게 할지니라"
   구약의 제단 위 불은 단순히 제물을 태우는 도구가 아니었습니다. 그것은 하나님의 임재와 성도들의 끊임없는 예배, 곧 거룩한 열정을 의미했습니다. 제사장들은 매일 아침과 저녁으로 나무를 공급하며 그 불이 꺼지지 않도록 지켰습니다. 오늘날 우리의 마음은 성령님이 거하시는 거룩한 제단입니다. 우리의 심령 속에 타오르는 기도의 불, 순종의 불, 열정의 불은 과연 꺼지지 않고 피워져 있습니까?

2) 누가복음 18:31 "예수께서 열두 제자를 데리시고 이르시되 보라 우리가 예루살렘으로 올라가노니 선지자들을 통하여 기록된 모든 것이 인자에게 응하리라"

   제자들은 예수님을 따라 예루살렘으로 올라가고 있었지만, 그 길의 진정한 의미를 알지 못했습니다. 그러나 예수님은 자신에게 맡겨진 사명—십자가의 길—을 향해 일점의 흔들림도 없이 걸어가셨습니다. 주님의 심령에는 아버지 하나님의 뜻을 이루고자 하는 꺼지지 않는 불이 타오르고 있었기 때문입니다. 주님의 일에 쓰임받는 자는 이처럼 주께서 걸어가신 십자가의 길을 거부하지 않고, 그 걸음에 온전히 합류하는 사람입니다.

3)  오스왈드 챔버스(Oswald Chambers)의 묵상

"하나님께 쓰임받기 위해 갖춰야 할 유일한 것은 하나님의 강권하심에 사로잡혀 그분의 동료가 되는 것입니다."

우리는 흔히 하나님께 쓰임받기 위해 탁월한 능력, 완벽한 자격, 혹은 화려한 준비가 필요하다고 생각합니다. 그러나 하나님이 찾으시는 사람은 능력이 뛰어난 사람이 아니라, 그분의 강권하시는 사랑에 완전히 사로잡힌 사람입니다. 내 의지와 내 계획을 내려놓고, 그분의 거룩한 열정에 내 삶을 맡길 때 우리는 비로소 하나님의 동역자(Co-worker)가 됩니다.

4) 오늘 우리에게 주는 메시지
   

  제단 위의 불이 꺼지지 않으려면 날마다 새로운 순종의 땔감을 드려야 합니다. 내 힘과 재능으로 주님의 일을 하려 하면 곧 지치고 불은 꺼지게 됩니다.

   그러나 십자가를 향해 주저함 없이 걸어가신 예수님의 열정에 사로잡힐 때, 성령의 불은 우리 안에서 끊임없이 타오르게 됩니다. 오늘 하루, 내 안의 제단을 점검해 봅시다. 내 능력의 한계를 내려놓고, 하나님의 강권하시는 사랑에 완전히 사로잡혀 그분과 함께 십자가의 길을 기쁨으로 걷는 참된 동역자가 되기를 소망합니다.

4) Devotional Reflection

   The fire on the Old Testament altar was far more than a practical flame for sacrifices; it was a visible token of God's holy presence and a symbol of ceaseless worship. Day in and day out, the priests were commanded to add fuel, ensuring that the flame never flickered out. Today, our hearts serve as the new covenant altar. Is the holy fire of prayer, obedience, and love for God actively burning within us, or has it dwindled into cold ashes?

In Luke 18:31, as Jesus resolutely walked toward Jerusalem, He was fully aware of the suffering and the cross awaiting Him. Yet, driven by an unquenchable fire of devotion to the Father’s will, He marched forward without hesitation. To be used in His kingdom, we are invited to share in this same single-minded path.

As Oswald Chambers insightfully reminded us, we often mistakenly believe that God requires our impressive talents, perfect qualifications, or worldly strength. In truth, the primary requirement to be used by God is simply to be yielded to and captured by His overwhelming love. When we surrender our self-centered ambitions and allow His constraint to grip our lives, we cease working for Him in our own strength and begin walking with Him as true companions in His redemptive work.

5) Application for Today

   Keeping the fire burning requires daily surrender—placing fresh wood of obedience onto the altar of our hearts every morning. Human enthusiasm eventually burns out, but a heart captured by the constrained love of Christ burns with a steady, divine flame.

   Today, check the altar of your heart. Let go of the desire to rely on your own strength. Ask the Holy Spirit to rekindle His holy fire within you, so that captured by His love, you may faithfully walk alongside Jesus wherever He leads.
