“Do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.” (Ephesians 4:30 NIV)
God the Father sent the Son, who shed his blood to pay the penalty for our sins; and when he arose and ascended to heaven, the Son sent the Holy Spirit to be our Helper, Counselor, and Advocate.
The Bible says that when we believed, we were sealed with the Holy Spirit, who communicates with us (Revelation 2:7) and searches out the deep things of God /to make them known to believers. He’s the one //who makes Christ a living reality to us (Ephesians 3:16-17) and in fact is called the Spirit of Christ.
Did you know that the Holy Spirit has a divine personality, and that he can be grieved? When we get lukewarm in our walk with the Lord, we can end up doing and saying things that we would never do or say if Jesus were physically sitting in the room with us. We forget that he is with us by his precious Holy Spirit, and that we make him sorrowful when we're not careful how we talk, when we watch and read garbage, or gossip and do other things /contrary to God. The Holy Spirit is as gentle as a dove, and if we are sensitive to God’s presence, we can feel [when he starts to get uncomfortable…] and that should make us feel uncomfortable too.
