첫댓글 유럽에서는 CEO의 개념이나 대표이사로 많이 쓰이는 직함으로 알고 있습니다. 총괄 이사 추천합니다...
managing director: 상무, 상무이사
senior managing director: 전무, 전무이사
managing director를 업무 담당 이사, 본부장, 사무국장, 사무총장, 총재 또는 총지배인으로 번역한 경우도 있고, 심지어 전무이사로 번역한 경우도 있습니다.

이거 참 애매하죠...
작년에 골드만삭스에서 수백명을 Managing Director로 승진시켰다는 기사를 본 적이 있네요.
증권사 특성상 각 부서를 독립 법인으로 만드는 경우가 많습니다. 그런 경우 managing director, vice-president가 수두룩하죠.
저는 대표이사로 많이 합니다.
