이번 일요일자(2006년 8월 13일) 토픽입니다~

(고민을 많이 했지만 이미 너무 앞에서 좋은 주제를 가지고 모임을 가지셔서 겹치는 게 너무 많았습니다. 너무 많은 것들을 모아 놓은 것에 불과한 것 같기도 해 재미가 있을지 모르겠네요. 몇가지 골라서 가볍게 이야기해보고 소그룹 내에서 각자 다른 주제를 첨가해 Pros and Cons를 진행하면 조금 더 낫겠죠?~)

◎ 2006년 8월13일자 토픽~

Pros and Cons

Think about these situations. What are some pros(good things) and cons(bad things) about these situations? Here is an example :

Situation : You are elected president.

Cons : Why would any honest man want to be president? No president is able to live his own life anymore. He is always being targeted by his political rivals. And he must always decide important matters correctly while, at the same time, maintaining high moral standards. In short, his life has to be unexciting and perfect if he is going to continue to hold public respect. But sometimes he must also make deals with friends and enemies alike in order to accomplish anything.

Pros : But if a man has some intellectual ability and wants to serve his country, he should try to improve society if he can. Such an action deserves the respect of his fellows. And such a person could use the power of the presidency to make things better for everyone. This person would be far better than just a power-hungry politician who cares more about the benefits of office than the national welfare.
