Hi~ there.

I'm (              )  living in a small but beautiful country, Korea.

I live in Andong where we can feel the breath of our ancestors' spirit.

And here in Andong, International Maskdance Festival is held annually.

In Andong, there are three famous things

First, Dosan Confucian Academy Temple where Korea's preeminent Confucian scholar, Lee Hwang devoted his life to study and the education of his disciples.

second a Bongjeongsa Temple which was built during Silla Dynasty and is known for the oldest wooden building in Korea.

Third, Hahoe Folk Village which contains various typical Korean houses preserved since the early Joseon Dynasty.

Among them, I would like to tell you about Hahoe Folk Village which has been admired as 'Wonderful Andong' by Elizabeth the second, the queen of the United Kingdom.

It is a village whose main habitants are of the Pungsan Ryu clan.

It is called Hahoe because the river Nakdong flows around the village in an S-shape.

Three mountains encircle it like folding screens. And the river Nakdong flows smoothly by the village. You can walk along the beautiful sandy beaches too. There is also a dense pine forest.

In this village, we play folk performances such as Hahoe Maskdance Drama and Seonyu- Julbul-Nori

Hahoe Maskdance Drama is to entertain the gods. This event includes a prayer for the prosperity of the village and for good harvests.

Seonyu- Julbul- Nori is Korea's traditional fire works. A fire burns along a rope knotted with lights strung across the river between Mansongjeong pine forest and Buyongdae cliff. Each knot flares into magnificent fireworks. If you can see the sight at night, it presents magnificent spectacle. I really want to see this beautiful fireworks with you someday.

Besides these things, there are many things to see in Andong. Here in Andong you can find true beauty of Korea and feel our thinking. I am sure you want to visit Andong. I will invite you soon and I hope that you enjoy Korean's culture and experience the beauty of Korean life style.
