Lets talk about "colorado blades" for coho..........I hear from a variety of sources that these home made set-ups are "deadly" for cohos........Well, I guess I'm one of the few that DO NOT find them that productive......Does someone out there want to enlighten me as to how these should be fished and when to use nickel over brass blades, and hammered finish over the smooth? how 'bout sizes? #3 # 4 Huh ?
They can be fished on the swing near bottom like a spoon, but are in my experience more productive under a float.Drift down seams or cast and retrieve in slack water /deep pools. The key is to have the blade spin as slow as possible.I like to use #3 gold in clear/green dark green water. As visibility(and/or water temp) decreases I switch to silver #3 or upsize to #4 gold.In real low vis I go with #4 hammered silver.I use these same guidelines for steelhead.Personally I find them more productive for coho in the chehalis than the Chilliwack/Vedder.(both rivers equal for stealhead)
