Incheon City and the Korean Olympic Committee are working together in a campaign to host the Summer Asian Games in Incheon in 2014.
As part of their campaign, Ahn Sang-soo, the mayor of Incheon, and Kim Jung-kil, the president of the KOC and Shin Yong-suk, the president of the Incheon Bid Committee, on Wednesday visited the National Olympic Committee in Malaysia and Malaysian Olympic chief Tunku Imran to ask their help in hosting the Asian Games.
``We have secured $20 million to start the Dream Program, which supports youth in Asia and if Incheon hosts the sports event, we will use the money for the development of Asian sports,’’ said mayor Ahn during the meeting.
The KOC head said, ``PyeongChang and Inchon will be able to hold the international sports events in the same year and it will be helpful to sports marketing and the development of managing techniques.’’
The Malaysian Olympic chief said, ``Deciding on the venue depends on the infrastructure of a city such as accessibility to airport, weather, lodging and sports facilities.’’
The KOC president will visit Cambodia after Malaysia to promote Incheon.
