Matilda Novel
CHAPTER 10: THROWING THE HAMMER
ORIGINAL ENTRY: 101-116
The nice thing about Matilda was that if you had met her casually and talked to her you would have thought she was a perfectly normal five-and-a-half-year-old child. But she displayed almost no outward signs of her brilliance and she
showed off.

FINAL ENTRY WITH CORRECTIONS;
The nice thing about Matilda was that she is so humble and it’s not even evident that she possessed this brilliant mind. When you talked to her she seems to be just like the normal five-year-old child, not unless if you’ve discussed to her about Literature and Mathematics, then you would never realize the extent of this kid’s brain.
It was easy for Matilda to make friends for those all in her class liked her. They all knew her to be clever. Among Matilda’s new friend was the girl named Lavender. She was exceptionally small for her age, a skinny nymph with a deep brown eyes and dark hair. Matilda like her because of her guts and adventurous way and Lavender liked the latter for the same reason.
It was on the third day during morning-break while the two girls were standing in a corner of the playground when a rugged ten year-old girl named Hortensia approached them. The two tiny ones, confronted by a giant senior student kept a watchful silence while listening to what she said about how the Headmistress behaves if she gets mad. Hortensia boasted how she has taken her own revenged to the Trunchull by pouring a Golden Syrup on the seat of the chair of the Headmistress and the powerful itching-powder she puts in the Trunchbull’s knickers.
She seems to be a warrior while telling the little girls how she survived when the Headmistress punished her by putting her in the Chokey or a narrow cupboard with nails and broken glasses sticking out on its walls so no one can even lean on it.
Hortensia informed them that Miss Trunchbull hates tiny kids. She scared them that the Headmistress is into throwing small kids out of the window for she once played the hammer for the Britain in the Olympics so the Headmistress is so strong.
At that very moment the playground was filled with shrieks and shouting of children at play upon seeing the Trunchbull advancing through the crowd the children drew back hastily. The Headmistress shouted Amanda’s name and told the 10 year old girl with plaited golden pigtails to come closer.
The Trunchbull hated pigtails as well and warned Amanda to have her pigtails off before coming to school tomorrow but the little girl insisted that her mom made it and that she looks lovely on it. The Headmistress got so angry that she grabbed Amanda’s pigtail and lifted the girl and swung her round and round like that of a hammer that the Trunchbull did in the Olympic Games.
Amanda landed on the grass and bounced three times and finally came to rest. Then, amazingly she sat up. She looked a trifle dazed b ut after a minute she was on her feet again back towards the playground.
Matilda was horrified and was wondering if the parents of the children in school never complained about what the Headmistress is doing but then Hortensia said that the parents are all scared as well for the Headmistress treats them just the same.
