황금더미 위에서 뚱뚱한 골드는 배를 흔들며 소리쳤다.

“자, 봐라! 이 황금빛! 이 찬란함! 너희 같은 깜쟁이랑 빨갱이는 평생 못 가져볼 빛이지!”

"뭐라고?"

레드가 이를 드러내며 한숨을 내쉬었다.

“저건 진짜 병이야… 불보다 더 뜨겁게 황금을 태워버릴 기세군.”

나는 비꼬듯 대꾸했다.

“황금에 환장해도, 결국 배만 불러올 뿐이지.”

골드는 아랑곳하지 않고 황금 덩이를 발톱으로 들어 빛에 비췄다.

“아름답지 않나? 이건 단순한 금속이 아니라 영원의 증거라고! 다른 건 다 썩고 사라져도 황금만은 남는다! 그러니까 이건 내 생명의 일부야!”

그 순간

초원 저편에서 웅웅거리는 함성이 울렸다. 고블린 잔당과 글런트 떼가 다시 몰려들고 있었다.

그들의 눈빛은 황금더미에 꽂혀 있었다.

골드의 눈이 커졌다.

“안 돼!! 내 황금!! 내 보화! 애들아, 지켜줘!! 제발!!”

레드가 코웃음을 쳤다.

“평화주의자라더니?”

나는 웃었다.

“결국 황금이 걸리면 평화고 뭐고 없는 거군.”

"뭐 이놈들이잘못한거라고!"

괴물 무리들이 덮쳐왔다.

레드는 불길을 토해 선두를 태웠고, 나는 어둠과 독을 섞어 측면을 갈라냈다.

골드는 한참 우물쭈물하다가 결국 전류를 터뜨렸다.

“찌이이잉!!”

허공에서 번개가 쏟아졌고, 고블린 몇 마리가 비명을 지르며 쓰러졌다. 하지만 곧장 그는 다시 황금더미 위에 웅크려 앉았다.

“흐아… 위험했어. 황금아, 내가 지켜줄게!”

레드가 고개를 절레절레 흔들며 말했다.

“도와달라더니 결국 네 보물만 끌어안는군.”

I laughed.

A group of monsters came upon us.

Red threw up the flames and burned the lead, and I mixed darkness and poison to split the sides.

Gold hesitated for a long time and eventually burst the electric current.

"Crying!"

Lightning poured out of the air, and a few goblin screamed and fell. But immediately he crouched back down on the golden pile.

"Oh, my… It was dangerous. Golden, I'll protect you!"
