렘32:16

구원은 하나님과 이스라엘의 상호작용의 결과입니다. 하지만 역사 내내 일관되게 완악했어요. 이스라엘과 지속적으로 신실했던 하나님을 생각해보면 이스라엘의 구원과 하나님의 창조 의도를 이루는 데 가장 중요한 조건은 무엇일 것 같은가? 예레미야는 심판을 피할 수 있는 것이 아니라, 심판 이후 70년을 복역하면 다시 돌아올 수 있다는 희망을 품었습니다. 그래서 바룩에게 매매 증서를 넘겨준 선지자는 하나님께 감사하고 찬양합니다.

Salvation is the result of God's interaction with Israel. But it has been consistently perfect throughout history. 매국노와 정신병자 취급을 받으며 감금되어 있는 상황에서도, 하나멜의 토지 구입 명령을 통해 이 백성에게 희망을 주신 것을 깨달았기에 찬양하지 않을 수 없었습니다. 예루살렘의 정치, 종교, 권력자들은 당장 눈앞에 닥친 바벨론의 위협만 보았지만, 예레미야 선지자는 그 너머에 있을 하나님의 시대까지 보았기 때문입니다. 그가 산 것은 밭이 아니라 희망이었습니다. 돈이 아니라 신뢰를 주고 샀습니다.

천지를 지으신 창조주의 능력으로 자기 백성을 언약 적 은혜로 보호하실 것이며, 또 그 능력으로 자기 백성이라도 거역하고 제 길로 가면 심판하실 것입니다. 아무도 그분의 모략과 지혜를 당할 자 없습니다. 하나님은 인류가 가는 모든 길을 보시고 선악을 따라 갚으시는 분입니다. 그러나 행악에 대한 심판은 피할 수 없지만 동시에 심판이 심판으로 끝나지 않을 수도 있는 것입니다.

He will protect his people with a covenantal grace with the creativity that built heaven and earth, and he will judge them if he defies his people with that ability and goes his own way. No one will be deceived and wise by him. God is a man who sees all mankind's ways and rewards them according to good and evil. 하나님의 말씀대로 갈대아 사람들이 쌓고 있는 흉벽은 점점 올라가고 성안의 백성은 기근과 염병과 바벨론 군의 공격에 시달리고 있었습니다. 하나님의 경고를 무시하고 바벨론에 항거한 자들에게는 전혀 살아남을 가망이 없는 절망적인 상황이지만, 하나님의 징계하시는 손길을 겸허히 수용하고 단순히 순종할 때 구원의 하나님으로 인해 기쁨과 감사가 찾아왔습니다.

성경묵상30년인데 흑암의 말씀으로 인해 낙심해있는 저를 용서하옵소서. 그냥 아무 일이 일어나지 않더라도 하나님이 어떤 분이신지를 묵상하고 배우면서 예레미야처럼 담담히 현실을 받아드리게 하옵소서. 내 마음을 타일러 가던 길을 계속 갈 수 있도록 하옵소서.
