김건희 여사의 각종 의혹을 수사해온 민중기 특별검사팀이 29일 최종 수사 결과를 발표했다. 특검은 “김건희는 대통령 배우자의 신분을 이용해 고가의 금품을 쉽게 수수하고, 현대판 매관매직이라 부를 수 있을 정도로 각종 인사와 공천에 폭넓게 개입했다”며 “대한민국의 공적 시스템이 크게 무너졌음을 확인했다”고 밝혔다.

◇김건희 특검, 180일간 총 76명 기소

민중기 특검은 지난 7월 2일 수사를 개시해 지난 28일까지 총 76명(중복 포함)을 재판에 넘겼다. 이 가운데 20명을 구속 기소했다. 특검은 “수사가 상당 기간 지체되었음을 감안해 신속히 주요 사건을 팀별로 배당하고 객관적 증거를 확보하는 데 기울였다”며 “향후 파견 인력을 단계적으로 공소 유지 체제로 재구성할 예정”이라고 했다.

◇金 연관성 드러나지 않은 의혹도

특검은 다만 일부 의혹과 관련해서는 김 여사와의 연관성을 밝히지 못했다. 특검은 양평고속도로 노선 변경 의혹에 대해 “특검 수사를 통해 약 1조7000억원 규모의 대형 국책사업이 인수위의 노선 변경 지시에 의해 합리적 이유 없이 변경됐음을 규명했다”면서도 이 과정에서 윤 전 대통령이나 김 여사가 어떻게 개입했는지는 설명하지 않았다. 특검은 이와 관련해 국토부 서기관 김모씨를 3600만원 뇌물 수수로 기소했다.

◇Special Counsel Team Investigating Former First Lady Kim Keon-hee Prosecutes 76 Individuals Over 180 Days

◇Allegations Without Proven Links to Kim

However, the special counsel failed to establish connections to Kim in some cases. Regarding suspicions of route changes for the Yangpyeong Expressway, the special counsel stated, “We confirmed that a large-scale national project worth 1.7 trillion Korean won was changed without rational grounds following route change orders from the transition committee,” but did not explain how former President Yoon or Kim intervened.
