사사기7장 말씀입니다.

1. 그때에 여룹바알 곧 기드온과 그와 함께한 온 백성이 일찍 일어나 하롯의 샘 옆에 진을 치니 이에 미디안 족속의

    군대는 그들의 북쪽에, 모레의 산 옆 골짜기에 있게 되었더라.

Then Jerubbaal, who [is] Gideon, and all the people that [were] with him, rose up early, and pitched beside the well of Harod: so that the host of the Midianites were on the north side of them, by the hill of Moreh, in the valley.

2. {주}께서 기드온에게 이르시되, 너와 함께한 백성이 너무 많으므로 내가 그들의 손에 미디안 족속을 넘겨주지

    아니하리니 이스라엘이 나를 대적하고 자기를 치켜세우며 말하기를, 내 손이 나를 구원하였다, 할까 염려하노라.

And the LORD said unto Gideon, The people that [are] with thee [are] too many for me to give the Midianites into their hands, lest Israel vaunt themselves against me, saying, Mine own hand hath saved me.

3. 그러므로 이제 가서 백성의 귀에 선포하여 말하기를, 누구든지 두렵고 무서운 자는 길르앗 산에서 일찍 떠나

    돌아가라, 하라, 하시니 백성 중에서 돌아간 자가 이만 이천 명이요, 남은 자가 만 명이더라.

Now therefore go to, proclaim in the ears of the people, saying, Whosoever [is] fearful and afraid, let him return and depart early from mount Gilead. And there returned of the people twenty and two thousand; and there remained ten thousand.

4.{주}께서 기드온에게 이르시되, 아직도 백성이 많으니 그들을 데리고 물로 내려가라. 거기서 내가 너를 위하여 그들을

   시험하리라. 내가 누구를 가리키며 네게 말하기를, 이 사람은 너와 함께 가리라, 하면 그는 너와 함께 갈 것이요, 내가

   누구를 가리키며 네게 말하기를, 이 사람은 너와 함께 가지 못하리라, 하면 그는 가지 못할 것이니라, 하시니라.

And the LORD said unto Gideon, The people [are] yet [too] many; bring them down unto the water, and I will try them for thee there: and it shall be, [that] of whom I say unto thee, This shall go with thee, the same shall go with thee; and of whomsoever I say unto thee, This shall not go with thee, the same shall not go.

5. 이에 그가 백성을 데리고 물로 내려가매 {주}께서 기드온에게 이르시되, 너는 개가 핥는 것 같이 자기 혀로 물을 핥는

    모든 자를 따로 세우고 또 무릎을 꿇고 마시는 모든 자도 그와 같이 하라, 하시더라.

So he brought down the people unto the water: and the LORD said unto Gideon, Every one that lappeth of the water with his tongue, as a dog lappeth, him shalt thou set by himself; likewise every one that boweth down upon his knees to drink.

6. 손을 입에 대고 핥는 자의 수는 삼백 명이요, 나머지 모든 백성은 무릎을 꿇고 물을 마시니라.

And the number of them that lapped, [putting] their hand to their mouth, were three hundred men: but all the rest of the people bowed down upon their knees to drink water.

7. {주}께서 기드온에게 이르시되, 내가 물을 핥은 삼백 명으로 너희를 구원하며 미디안 족속을 네 손에 넘겨주리니

    다른 백성은 다 각각 자기 처소로 돌아갈 것이니라, 하시니라.

And the LORD said unto Gideon, By the three hundred men that lapped will I save you, and deliver the Midianites into thine hand: and let all the [other] people go every man unto his place.

8. 이에 백성이 양식과 나팔을 손에 들매 기드온이 이스라엘의 나머지 사람을 다 각각 그 사람의 장막으로 돌려보내고

    그 삼백 명은 머물게 하니라. 미디안 군대는 기드온 밑의 골짜기 가운데 있더라.

So the people took victuals in their hand, and their trumpets: and he sent all [the rest of] Israel every man unto his tent, and retained those three hundred men: and the host of Midian was beneath him in the valley.

9. 바로 그 밤에 {주}께서 기드온에게 이르시되, 너는 일어나서 그 군대에게로 내려가라. 내가 그것을 네 손에

    넘겨주었느니라.

And it came to pass the same night, that the LORD said unto him, Arise, get thee down unto the host; for I have delivered it into thine hand.

10. 그러나 만일 네가 내려가기를 두려워하거든 네 종 부라를 데리고 그 군대에게로 내려가서

But if thou fear to go down, go thou with Phurah thy servant down to the host:

11. 그들이 하는 말을 들으라. 그리하면 그 뒤에 네 손이 힘을 얻어서 그 군대에게로 내려가리라, 하시니라.

      이에 기드온이 자기 종 부라와 함께 그 군대 안에 있던 무장한 사람들의 외곽으로 내려간즉

And thou shalt hear what they say; and afterward shall thine hands be strengthened to go down unto the host. Then went he down with Phurah his servant unto the outside of the armed men that [were] in the host. 

12. 미디안 족속과 아말렉 족속과 동쪽의 모든 자손이 골짜기를 따라 누웠는데 그 수가 메뚜기같이 많고 그들의 낙타도

      수없이 많아 마치 해변의 모래같이 많더라.

And the Midianites and the Amalekites and all the children of the east lay along in the valley like grasshoppers for multitude; and their camels [were] without number, as the sand by the sea side for multitude.

13. 기드온이 그곳에 이른즉, 보라, 어떤 사람이 자기 동료에게 꿈을 고하여 이르기를, 보라, 내가 한 꿈을 꾸었는데,

      보라, 보리 빵 한 덩이가 미디안 군대 안으로 굴러 들어와 한 장막에 이른 뒤에 그것을 쳐서 무너뜨려 뒤엎으매

      그 장막이 쓰러지니라, 하니

And when Gideon was come, behold, [there was] a man that told a dream unto his fellow, and said, Behold, I dreamed a dream, and, lo, a cake of barley bread tumbled into the host of Midian, and came unto a tent, and smote it that it fell, and overturned it, that the tent lay along.

14. 그의 동료가 응답하여 이르되, 이것은 다름이 아니요, 이스라엘 사람 요아스의 아들 기드온의 칼이라.

      [하나님]께서 미디안과 그 모든 군대를 그의 손에 넘겨주셨느니라, 하더라.

And his fellow answered and said, This [is] nothing else save the sword of Gideon the son of Joash, a man of Israel: [for] into his hand hath God delivered Midian, and all the host.

15. 기드온이 그 꿈과 해석하는 말을 듣고 경배하며 이스라엘 군대로 돌아와서 이르되, 일어나라.

      {주}께서 미디안 군대를 너희 손에 넘겨주셨느니라, 하고는

And it was [so], when Gideon heard the telling of the dream, and the interpretation thereof, that he worshipped, and returned into the host of Israel, and said, Arise; for the LORD hath delivered into your hand the host of Midian. 

16. 삼백 명을 세 무리로 나누어 각 사람의 손에 나팔과 빈 항아리를 주고 항아리 안에 등불을 주며

And he divided the three hundred men [into] three companies, and he put a trumpet in every mans hand, with empty pitchers, and lamps within the pitchers. 

17. 그들에게 이르되, 나만 바라보고 그대로 하되, 보라, 내가 그 진영의 외곽에 이르거든 내가 하는 대로 너희도

      그리하여

And he said unto them, Look on me, and do likewise: and, behold, when I come to the outside of the camp, it shall be [that], as I do, so shall ye do.

18. 나와 및 나와 함께한 모든 자들이 나팔을 불거든 너희도 그 온 진영의 사면에서 나팔을 불며 말하기를,

      {주}의 칼이라. 기드온의 칼이라, 하라, 하니라.

When I blow with a trumpet, I and all that [are] with me, then blow ye the trumpets also on every side of all the camp, and say, [The sword] of the LORD, and of Gideon.

19. 이에 기드온과 그와 함께한 백 명이 중간 경점이 시작되는 때에 진영 밖에 이르렀는데 그들이 막 새로 파수꾼을

      세우므로 그때에 그들이 나팔을 불며 손에 있던 항아리를 부수니라.

So Gideon, and the hundred men that [were] with him, came unto the outside of the camp in the beginning of the middle watch; and they had but newly set the watch: and they blew the trumpets, and brake the pitchers that [were] in their hands.

20. 세 무리가 나팔을 불며 항아리를 부수고 왼손에 등불을, 오른손에 나팔을 들고 불면서 외치되, {주}의 칼이라,

      기드온의 칼이라, 하고는

And the three companies blew the trumpets, and brake the pitchers, and held the lamps in their left hands, and the trumpets in their right hands to blow [withal]: and they cried, The sword of the LORD, and of Gideon.

21. 각 사람이 진영의 사방에서 자기 자리에 서매 그 온 군대가 달려가고 부르짖으며 도망하더라.

And they stood every man in his place round about the camp: and all the host ran, and cried, and fled.

22. 삼백 명이 나팔을 불 때에 {주}께서 그 온 군대에서 두루 각 사람의 칼이 그의 동료를 치게 하시므로 군대가

      도망하여 스레랏의 벧싯다에 이르고 또 답밧과 아벨므홀라의 경계에 이르렀으며

And the three hundred blew the trumpets, and the LORD set every mans sword against his fellow, even throughout all the host: and the host fled to Bethshittah in Zererath, [and] to the border of Abelmeholah, unto Tabbath. 

23. 이스라엘 사람들은 납달리와 아셀과 므낫세에서 나와서 함께 모여 미디안 족속을 추격하였더라.

And the men of Israel gathered themselves together out of Naphtali, and out of Asher, and out of all Manasseh, and pursued after the Midianites.

24. 기드온이 사자들을 온 에브라임 산으로 보내어 말하기를, 내려와서 미디안 족속을 치고 그들을 앞질러 벧바라와

      요르단에 이르는 물들을 취하라, 하매 이에 에브라임의 모든 사람이 함께 모여 벧바라와 요르단에 이르는 물들을

      취하고

And Gideon sent messengers throughout all mount Ephraim, saying, Come down against the Midianites, and take before them the waters unto Bethbarah and Jordan. Then all the men of Ephraim gathered themselves together, and took the waters unto Bethbarah and Jordan.

25. 또 미디안 족속의 두 통치자 오렙과 스엡을 사로잡아 오렙은 오렙 반석에서 죽이고 스엡은 스엡의 포도즙 틀에서 죽이며 또 미디안을 추격하여 오렙과 스엡의 머리를 가지고 요르단 저편에 있던 기드온에게로 나아오니라.

And they took two princes of the Midianites, Oreb and Zeeb; and they slew Oreb upon the rock Oreb, and Zeeb they slew at the winepress of Zeeb, and pursued Midian, and brought the heads of Oreb and Zeeb to Gideon on the other side Jordan.
