3. 묵상칼럼:  헛된 대상을 내려놓고, 단순함으로 주님과 합일하는 삶

   우리는 인생을 살아가며 종종 눈에 보이는 연약한 것들에 마음을 기댑니다. 권력을 쥐고 있는 사람이나 나보다 강해 보이는 이들에게 기대어 문제의 해결책을 찾으려 합니다. 그러나 시편 146편 3절은 단호하게 경고합니다. "귀인들을 의지하지 말며 도울 힘이 없는 인생도 의지하지 말지니" 결국 인간은 스스로를 구할 힘조차 없는 존재이기에, 그들을 향한 기대는 쉽게 절망과 실망으로 돌아오곤 합니다.

   우리가 인간적인 의지처를 찾아 헤매는 진짜 이유는 우리 마음이 온전히 주님만을 바라볼 만큼 '단순'하지 못하기 때문입니다. 오스왈드 챔버스는 "당신은 주님과 하나 될 수 있을 만큼 단순합니까? 아니면 조심스럽게 주님을 한쪽으로 밀쳐내고 있습니까?"라는 날카로운 질문을 던집니다. 세상의 수많은 기대를 마음에 가득 품고 계산을 거듭할 때, 우리는 정작 하나님을 삶의 중심이 아닌 변두리로 조용히 밀쳐내고 맙니다. 내 힘으로 무언가를 해내려 애쓰는 복잡한 마음은 주님과의 온전한 하나 됨을 방해하는 가장 큰 장애물입니다.

   이러한 인간적인 한계와 계산을 뛰어넘는 비결은 누가복음 1장 35절의 말씀에서 찾을 수 있습니다. "성령이 네게 임하시고 지극히 높으신 이의 능력이 너를 덮으시리니..." 동정녀 마리아가 인간적인 계산을 내려놓고 하나님의 능력만을 의지하며 단순하게 자신의 삶을 내어드렸을 때, 성령의 임재를 통해 놀라운 구속의 역사가 시작되었습니다.

진정한 믿음은 세상의 권력이나 사람의 도움을 바라보던 복잡한 눈길을 거두고, 나를 온전히 성령의 능력 아래 두는 것입니다. 오늘 하루, 도울 힘이 없는 인생을 의지하려 했던 조급함을 내려놓으십시오. 계산적이고 복잡한 마음을 비우고 마리아처럼 단순한 순종으로 주님께 나아갈 때, 우리는 주님과 비로소 하나 되는 거룩한 신비를 경험하게 될 것입니다.

4. Devotional] Letting Go of Vain Reliance: Unifying with God in Simplicity

   In our daily lives, we often lean on visible yet fragile sources of support. We seek solutions by relying on powerful figures or people who seem stronger than ourselves. However, Psalm 146:3 gives us a stern warning: "Do not put your trust in princes, in human beings, who cannot save." At their core, human beings lack the power to save even themselves, meaning our expectations in them often end in disappointment and despair.

   The true reason we wander around searching for human support is that our hearts are not "simple" enough to look solely to the Lord. Oswald Chambers asks us a piercing question: "Are you simple enough to be identified with the Lord, or are you cautiously pushing Him to one side?" When our minds are cluttered with worldly expectations and human calculations, we subtly push God to the margins of our lives. A complicated heart—one that tries to accomplish everything through human effort—is the greatest obstacle to becoming truly one with the Lord.

   The secret to overcoming these human limitations and calculations is found in Luke 1:35: "The Holy Spirit will come on you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you..." When Mary set aside human reasoning and simply yielded her life to God, relying solely on His power, the Holy Spirit overshadowed her, initiating the miraculous work of redemption.

   True faith requires us to turn our gaze away from human influence and place ourselves entirely under the power of the Holy Spirit. Today, let go of the anxiety that drives you to rely on humans who cannot save. Empty your mind of complex calculations and approach the Lord with simple obedience like Mary. As you do, you will experience the holy mystery of becoming truly unified with Him.
