Chapter 32 : Preventive Medicine(預劑,예제)... Brewing and Taking Medicine in Advance... Matter No.182
"Preventive Medicine(預劑,예제)" refers to brewing and taking medicine in advance,
before an illness actually manifests.
If one only reaches out to help after falling into the mud,
or washes with water only after tripping from drunkenness,
this is merely reacting to a situation after the fact.
Such wisdom can be said to be inferior even to that of the lowliest creatures.
When the energy of the earth is about to become damp,
ante and mole crickets seal their holes in advance.

"Preventive Medicine(預劑,예제)" refers to brewing and taking medicine before an illness manifests.
If one only reaches out to support someone after they have fallem into a muddy pit,
or pours water to wash them only after they have tripped from drunkenness,
this is merely reacting and providing relief only after withessing the situation firsthand.
Is such wisdom not inferior even to that of the lowliest creatures?
When the energy of the earth is about to become damp,
ants and mole crickets already seal their holes in advance.
[Commentary,
Preventing an illness from occurring in the first place is the best possible course of action,
but if there are already signs of an impending illness,
taking medicine before it fully breaks out is highly effective.
The same holds true for all matters in the world.
