Oxford University Press has named the phrase brain rot as its word of the year.
It is defined as the supposed deterioration of a person's mentanl and intellectual state specailly from consuming too much low grade contents especailly on line.
Oxford press says the phrase chose by a combination of public vote and language analysis gained new prominence in 2024 with a 230 % increased in usage since the previous year.
Oxford language's president Casper Grathwhol says that in its modern sense, brain rot feels likea rightful next chapter in the culture conversation about humanity and technology.
