Crushing debt도 우연히 도서관에서 대출하게 되었다. 저자는 회계사로 개인은 물론 국가도 부채를 줄여야 한다고 역설하고 있다. 2010년 국민총생산대비 연방의 부채는 34%이고 지출중 가장 많은 것이 노령연금/실업급여/육아수당으로 25%이고 의료/소셜이 21, 정부운영18, 기타지출15, 이자11순이다. 2008년기준 국가별 국민총생산대비 국가채무비율은 일본188, 이태리101, 프랑스73, 독일69, 브라질/인도66, 미국/캐나다60, 영국52, 스페인47, 스위스37, 중국32, 한국28, 러시아5순이다. 그런데 한국은 최근 문재인정부집권후 급증하여 40이상으로 증가해서 증가속도가 가파르다.
더우기 대외부채가 없는 일본이나, 국제적통화인 엔/유로/달러/위안/루블 등도 아닌데다가 기축국도 아니고 원자재도 거의 없어서 어쩌면 가장 취약한 나라인지도 모른다. 2010년기준 캐나다 6대은행의 신용카드채권은 2004년에 비해 56%가 증가한 57조불이었다. 자산을 보면 주식27%, 모기지17, 사업대출14, 개인대출12순이고 신용카드채권은 2%수준이며 자본은 우선주1, 보통주2, 누적이익3으로 6%이고 나머지 94가 부채로 예금65, 기타28이므로 레버리지는 17배에 달하므로 자본이익률의 변동이 커질수밖에 없는 구조다.
놀라운 사실은 14국의 5개분야(가계, 기업부동산, 상업부동산, 정부, 금융) 총70개중 가장 부채에 취약한 상위 10의 다섯나라(미국, 영국, 캐나다, 스페인)에 한국이 포함되었다는 것이다. 한국은 다른 네 나라와 같이 가계분야가 취약한 것으로 나타났다. 3개는 미국, 영국, 스페인의 상업부동산이고 마지막 2개는 스페인의 기업부동산과 금융으로 가장 취약한 나라가 스페인이다.
