3. 묵상칼럼 : 하나님의 시선이 머무는 자리: 쓸모없음 속에서 피어나는 영광

   우리는 세상의 기준에 익숙합니다. 유용성, 효율성, 눈에 보이는 성과와 가치가 삶의 우선순위가 되곤 합니다. 그래서 내가 서 있는 자리가 초라해 보이거나, 아무런 결실도 맺지 못하는 것처럼 느껴질 때 우리는 쉽게 불안해집니다. "내가 지금 여기서 무엇을 하고 있는가?"라는 질문은 종종 낙심으로 이어집니다.

   그러나 하나님이 세상을 바라보시고 운영하시는 방식은 우리의 생각과 다릅니다. 예레미야 17장 7절은 "무릇 여호와를 의지하며 여호와를 의뢰하는 그 사람은 복을 받을 것이라"고 말씀합니다. 성경이 말하는 '복'은 세상의 유능함이나 화려한 환경에서 오지 않습니다. 오직 여호와를 내 삶의 유일한 의지처로 삼는 Trust(신뢰)에서 시작됩니다.

   오스왈드 챔버스는 그의 묵상집에서 깊은 통찰을 전합니다. "하나님은 가장 쓸모없는 곳에 자신의 백성을 두십니다. 주님을 영화롭게 하는 곳에 그들을 두실 뿐입니다."

   세상이 보기에는 가장 유용하지 않고, 무의미해 보이며, 때로는 버려진 듯한 자리가 실상은 하나님이 지정하신 은혜의 자리일 수 있습니다. 그곳은 나의 능력을 증명하는 자리가 아니라, 오직 하나님만을 의지해야만 살아갈 수 있는 자리이기 때문입니다. 능력이 닿지 않는 한계의 지점에서 비로소 우리는 여호와를 온전히 의뢰하는 '복 있는 사람'으로 변화됩니다.

   베드로전서 4장 19절은 이에 대해 더욱 명확한 권면을 줍니다. "그러므로 하나님의 뜻대로 고난을 받는 자들은 또한 그 선을 행하는 가운데에 그 창조주께 그 영혼을 의탁할지어다."

   오늘 당신이 놓인 자리가 어둡고, 무익해 보이며, 외롭게 느껴진다면 기억하십시오. 하나님은 당신을 잊으신 것이 아닙니다. 세상의 눈에는 쓸모없어 보이는 바로 그곳이, 하나님의 영광이 온전히 나타날 거룩한 무대입니다. 내가 아무것도 할 수 없음을 인정하고 나의 영혼을 신실하신 창조주께 맡겨드릴 때, 그 쓸모없는 자리는 주님을 영화롭게 하는 가장 광채 나는 자리가 됩니다.

   오늘 하루, 나의 유용함을 증명하려는 애씀을 내려놓고 여호와를 의지하는 복을 누리십시오. 당신이 서 있는 그 작은 자리가 이미 주님의 영광으로 채워지고 있습니다.

4. 묵상칼럼(영문) : Where God’s Eyes Rest: Glory Blooming in the Unlikely Places

  We are deeply accustomed to the standards of the world—prioritizing usefulness, efficiency, and visible success. Consequently, when the place we stand feels humble, obscure, or completely unfruitful, anxiety creeps in easily. The recurring question, "What am I even doing here?" often leads to discouragement.

Y  et, the way God observes and moves in the world is fundamentally different from ours. Jeremiah 17:7 declares, "Blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him." True biblical blessing does not stem from worldly competence or favorable circumstances; it springs solely from a heart that rests entirely on the Lord.

  Oswald Chambers offers profound insight in his reflection: "God puts His saints where they will be of the most use? No, God puts His saints where they will bring Him the most glory, and sometimes that place seems the most useless."

   What appears to human eyes as a useless, meaningless, or abandoned place may, in reality, be the precise location of divine grace. It is not a stage to prove our own ability, but a sanctuary where we are driven to rely entirely on God. At the boundary of our own helplessness, we are transformed into those "blessed ones" who depend solely on the Lord.

   1 Peter 4:19 offers clear guidance for such moments: "So then, those who suffer according to God’s will should commit themselves to their faithful Creator and continue to do good."

   If the place you find yourself in today feels dark, fruitless, or lonely, take heart. God has not forgotten you. The very location that seems useless by worldly standards is the sacred stage chosen for His glory to shine most clearly. When we surrender the need to be capable and entrust our souls to our faithful Creator, that barren place becomes radiant with His presence.

   Today, release the struggle to prove your worth to the world, and step into the blessing of trusting the Lord. The small place where you stand is already being filled with His glory.
