모리스빌 시장 업데이트;

 Monday evening, our community experienced a devastating apartment fire at Camden Westwood that displaced dozens of residents. Our hearts are with everyone affected.

Morrisville Fire/Rescue responded immediately to the fire, rescuing five individuals and working alongside the Red Cross, NeighborUp and other partners to assist the more than 70 residents impacted.

While an event like this is rare in our community, it underscores the importance of maintaining strong, well-funded public safety departments. I am incredibly proud of our nationally accredited police and fire professionals for their courage and commitment to serving our residents in moments of crisis.

Morrisville remains one of the safest places to live in North Carolina, and I will continue working to ensure our first responders have the resources they need to keep it that way.

I had the chance to meet with NeighborUp and Red Cross staff and volunteers at the site this afternoon to discuss how to best assist the families impacted. These organizations mentioned the incredible support from the surrounding community is unlike anything they have seen before. All impacted families are in the process of being rehoused. Our community is strongest when we help one another and I am proud to be a part of it 💚

Anyone who wishes to assist with donations should look to the following resources:

Red Cross: People can donate to the Red Cross by visiting redcross.org/north-carolina, calling 1-800-RED-CROSS (1-800-733-37677) or by texting REDCROSS to 90999.

Carolina Asian Alliance: The alliance is holding a food drive for residents who are in urgent need of basic supplies. Food can be donated at Acacia Tree Asian Cuisine, 101 Keybridge Dr #100, Morrisville.

NeighborUp: The nonprofit is raising donations for emergency shelter and supplies for residents. People can donate to neighborup.org/donate and indicate “fire relief.” Donations can also be dropped up at the NeighborUp Cary Administration Office, 187 High House Road, Cary
