Well done, Amaryllis! You've hit the nail right on the head. How smart of you! Your explanation is so accurate that nobody would give any better explanation.
Thanks a lot. Have a wonderful day.
I have had hard time with such that question since I was a student.
But, I can solve the first question.
If we take out the beads in order like my explanation, we could find it out.
First, we have to name the bags as 1~ 5 in order.
Next,we have to put those beads from the bags enough for the number of the very bag. That's to say, one from the first bag, two beads from the second bag...
So, even if we use the scale once with those beads, oops! I'll add it later . A customer is coming.
I am back.
Now, we have to weigh all of them which we took out from the each bag at once. Thus, if the third bag is the very one which each bead weighs 9 kg, the division on a scale will point it out as 147 kg. And if the second bag is the very one , the division on a scale will point it out as 148 kg. Right?
Rest is history. My explanation is not sufficient you think?
And the next question is too hard. Search me.
I couldn't be patient because I'd like to know the answer .
Have a heart. Please, answer me in secret. ^^
Hi, all.
Here are two brain teasers that seem to be very perplexing and challenging. Could you solve any of these two posers?
-------------------
1. Bags and Beads:
You are given 5 bags. There are 10 beads in each of the bags. In four of the bags, the beads each weigh 10 kilograms. In the remaining bag, each bead weighs only 9 kilograms. All the bags and beads look identical. You must find out which bag has the lighter beads. The problem is that all the bags look identical and all the beads look identical. You can use a scale, but it has to be a single-tray scale, not a two-tray balance scale. Also, you may use the scale only once. How can you find out which bag has the lighter beads?
2. The GRY Riddle:
Think of words ending in -GRY. Angry and hungry are two of them. There are only three words in the English language. What is the third word? The word is something that everyone uses everyday. If you have listened carefully, I have already told you what it is.
----------------
Too difficult? Let me drop a hint for number two. Remember that a riddle has a trick with the words or usage of the words. Some words or sentences are used just to misdirect your idea or thought.
Correct answers will be given sooner or later.
Just try and enjoy it. Have a great day!
