테슬라가 개발한 종파(longitudinal wave)로 테슬라가 전기 에너지를 지구상의 어는 곳이든 보낼 수 있다고 호언한 것은 일반적인 전자파가 아닌 이 스칼라 파를 이용하자는 것이었다. 19060년대 중반에 미국방성의 Walter Richmond와 Thomas Bearden이 이 스칼라 파를 발견했다. 1963년에 소련이 미국 잠수함 Thresher호를 격파한 것은 이 테슬라의 원리를 이용한 사이코트로닉 무기였다고 한다. 1999년 미국의 한 장성은 라디오 프로그램에 출연하여 광속의 4.7배로 통신이 가능한 수준으로 종단파를 개발했다고 말했다. 이것은 해저 어디에서라도 잠수함을 찾아 낼 수 있고 실온에서 암석을 녹일 수 있는 정도라고 한다.(미확인 주장)

뫼비우스 띠에 코일을 감은 것도 스칼라 파를 발생시킨다고 주장하는 비주류 학자들이 있다. 이들의 주장에 따르면 스칼라 파는 손실이 없어 모든 물체를 투과하며 광속의 10억 배 이상의 속도로 통신이 가능하다고 한다.

스칼라파(scalar wave) 발생 장치를 이용하여 많은 질병을 치료할 수 있다고도 한다.

데이비드 봄(D. bohm)의 양자장 이론 중에 아로노프-봄 효과(Aharonov-Bohm effect)라는 것이 있는데 이것은 미치 러시아 인형처럼 전자기파 내부에는 그 보다 더 미세한 에너지, 즉 양자장 에너지 (quantum energy)가 존재하고, 양자장 에너지 내부에는 이보다 더 미세한 에너지인 영점장 에너지(zero-point energy)가 존재한다는 이론이다. 여기서 양자장 에너지를 흔히 스칼라 에너지

(scalar energy) 혹은 스칼라파(scalar wave)라고 부르며, 영점장 에너지는 우주의 허공을 충만하고 있는 에너지이다. 스칼라파는 고도의 질서를 가진 파동이기 때문에 이것을 인체에 쪼여주면 마치 에너지가 높은 데에서 낮은 데로 흐르듯이 고밀도의 스칼라파가 병이 있는 곳으로 흐르게 되어 질병의 종류에 관계없이 질병을 치료할 수 있는 것으로 알려져 있다. 이것은 마치 영구 자석이 자신보다 강한 자장을 만나면 그 극성이 바뀌는 이치와 같다.

애디(W.R.Adey), 푸하리치(H.K.Puharich) 그리고 시게미등은 전기적 쌍극자(dipole)를 이용하면 스칼라 파 발생 장치를 만들 수 있다고 하였으며, 이 발생 장치를 이용하여 인체의 에너지의 정체를 치료할 수 있다고 하였다. 여기서 전기적 쌍극자(dipole)란 크기가 같은 양(+)과 음(-)의 두극이 아주 가까운 거리를 두고 마주하고 있는 관계를 말하는데 이와 같이 두개의 극이 서로 마주하게 되면 극성화된 진동자가 왕복운동을 하면서 공간의 영점장을 흔들어대기 때문에 에너지가 한 쪽으로 높은 에너지 밀도로 밀리게 된다고 하였다. 바로 이때 횡파처럼 진행하는 새로운 파동이 생기는데 이것이 바로 스칼라파라고 하였다.  

프랑스의 프리오르(A.Priore)는 국가적 지원을 받아 치료 목적의 스칼라파 발생장치를 개발하는데 성공하였으며 그는 이를 이용하여 말기암 치료, 동맥경화증 치료, 억제된 면역력 회복 그리고 수면병 기생충을 박멸할 수 있다고 하였다.  

카나다의 생물학자 크라크(Hulda R. Clark)는 재퍼(Zapper)라는 스칼라 파 발생장치를 개발하였으며 이를 사용하면 다양한 종류의 질병을 치료할 수 있다고 하였다.

러시아의 물리학자 아키모프(A. E. Akimov)는 소용돌이 장(torsion field)발생장치를 개발하였는데 이를 이용하면 여러 종류의 질병을 치료할 수 있다고 하였다. 여기서 소용돌이장은 스칼라 파와 거의 비슷한 개념이다.

스토니(Stony), 휘태커(Whittacker), 페퍼(D.M.Pepper), 웰즈(D.R.Wells), 보트틱(W.H.Bostick)및 체르네스키(A.Chernetski)등은 치료목적의 스칼라파 발생장치를 개발하였으며 이를 이용하면 여러 종류의 질병을 치료할 수 있다고 하였다.

프라니간(F.Flannigan)은 뫼비우스(moebius) 띠모양의 코일에서발생하는 스칼라파를 인체에 쪼이면 경혈의 전기 전도도가 균형을 회복한다고 하였다.

프하리히(A.Puharich)는 스칼라파를 발생하는 뫼비우스(moebius)코일을 손목시계의 기계적 동작에 결합하여 테슬러 시계(Tesla watch)를 만들었는데 이 시계를 이용하여 신경세포 배양 시스템에 적용하면 놀에피네프린의 흡수량이 20% 감소된다고 하였고, 또한 임파세포에 적용하면 임파세포의 분열 속도를 76% 증가 시킬 수 있다고 하였다.

가농 (T. A. Gagnon)은 이중나선 코일을 이용하여 스칼라 파 발생장치를 만들었는데 이 장치를 이용하여 임파 세포에 쪼인 결과, 전자장만을 쪼였을 때는 임파 세포의 분열 속도가 3~4배 증가하였으나, 스칼라 파를 쪼인 경우에는 20배 증가시켰다고 하였다. 또 이장치를 이용하여 물에 스칼라 파를 쪼인 다음 이 물이 세포 발육에 미치는 영향을 실험한 결과, 67%의 발육 촉진 효과가 있었다고 하였다. 그리고 이 물의 발육 촉진 효과는 수개월 동안 유지되었다고 하였다.

With the Scalar Waves Transmitter ( SWT) V1.0 you will be able to do some experiments with Scalar waves transmission.

A simple test that you can perform, is for instance :

a) Take a AM pocket radio for LW band, select a broadcast radio with music for instance,

b) Take a metal box, and put the radio into this metal box with the volume set to the maximum output,

c) When the metal box is closed ( like a Faraday box ), all "normal" electromagnetics waves cannot pass through this shield, if the metal of your box is sufficiently thick... Now, you hear no more music....

d) Take again your LW pocket radio and tune finely your SWT ( about 200 kHz ). Play with the keying switch to hear an BF tone like a Morse code tone.

e) Now, repeat the step (b)......and hear what happen.....Now, you will be able to hear the BF tone clearly through the metal box !!!

THE SCALAR WAVES ARE ABLE TO PASS THROUGH THE METAL SHIELD.......

This coil has a cancelling effect of the magnetic fields at the nodes (see above), due to the opposing magnetic fields summing to zero. The nodes MUST lie along a straight line.

                                 

Once the magnetic field is cancelled, you are left with a field of pure potential. This field will have longitudinal scalar wave pattern. This field will be a narrow thread like beam parallel to the cylindrical axis.

The coil is wound on a 45 degree angle up and down the length of the form creating a series of 90 degree intersections where the windings cross (caduceus coil).

These types of translators (which can also be wound at other angles to facilitate the production of different wave types) tend to create 'free' A, 'free' B, or 'free' E fields which have been separated from the em source wave by selective cancellation of the unwanted component fields of the source wave.

In contrast to the common Hertzian transverse vector waves, scalar waves travel, or rather materialize at the receiving end, at superluminal velocities. Scalar waves also quite effectively penetrate trough objects, such as a Faraday Shield, which would stop an ordinary electromagnetic (Hertzian type) wave.

I have constructed the scalar wave circuit shown on the web page and has tested it firing into a screened room. This test was done using a pocket radio, the waves were still detectable inside the screened room. The circuit constructed has a minor alteration in that the resistor R2 (470k) has been changed to 15k. This was done in order to increase the voltage in to the transistor.

Terminology

The basic understanding of scalar field theory begins with several definition of terms within the theory, which are also used in academic physics, but assigns them other meanings.[2]

A "scalar field" is a set of assigned observable magnitudes at every point in n-dimensional space (compare this with the standard definition; n is also 4 or greater).

An "electric field" is composed of the spinning charged mass, in motion through a finite change in electrostatic scalar potential (compare this with the current academic definition).

A "potential" is pure energy and, is any ordering (static or dynamic) in the vacuum (eg., the position of the object relative to other objects).

A "scalar potential" is the stationary ordering in the virtual particle flux of the vacuum (compare this with the current academic definition).

A "vector potential" is any nonstationary ordering in the virtual particle flux of vacuum (compare this with the current academic definition). Scalar potentials and vector potentials are thus defined as: "contained" inside the energy domain.

Magnetic fields interaction

SFT is based on "non-symmetrical regauging" potentials, demonstrated by the interaction of two magnetic fields. When the field lines oppose each other, the magnets are pulled together. When the fields are aligned in the same direction, the magnets push apart.

The theory states that when two magnets strongly oppose each other but are not permitted to move apart, the force between them is said to create a "scalar bubble" between the magnets. The greater the repulsive force, the larger this scalar bubble becomes. As the magnets move away and the pushing force decreases, the scalar bubble shrinks in size and strength.

In a similar manner, the theory states that when two magnets that are strongly attracted create a "scalar void" between them that grows larger the closer the two magnets become. Two magnets powerfully attracted to one another create a very large scalar void, that decreases as the attracting magnets are moved apart.

Field effects of scalar energy

SFT suggests that scalar energy can move through space much like an electromagnetic wave. However, the operating principles are different. The regular expansion and contraction of a scalar bubble/void is like rhythmically splashing water on a pond. It sends out ripples through the general scalar field that can subtly affect the size and strength of distant scalar bubbles/voids.

This means that a pair of magnets that are rhythmically opposing/attracting each other may be sending out scalar ripples through space that will slightly perturb the scalar bubble/void between a second pair of magnets nearby. The net effect is that the attraction and/or repulsion between the second pair of magnets could exhibit a change in strength, even though the magnets and fields themselves are motionless.

Theory of operation

Theory of a basic scalar communications system

A scalar communications broadcast antenna does not make any sense according to normal electromagnetic theory. The goal of a scalar broadcast antenna is to create powerful repulsion/attraction between two magnetic fields, to create large scalar bubbles/voids. This is done by using a broadcast antenna with two opposing electromagnetic coils that effectively cancel out as much of each other's magnetic field as possible. An ideal scalar broadcast antenna will emit no electromagnetic field (or as little as possible), since all power is being focused into the repulsion/attraction between the two opposing magnetic fields. Normal electromagnetic theory suggests that since such a device emits no measurable electromagnetic field, it is useless and will only heat up. For a scalar broadcast antenna, any normal RF emission is wasted energy.

A scalar reception antenna similarly excludes normal electromagnetic waves and only measures changes in magnetic field attraction and repulsion. This will typically be a two-coil powered antenna that sets up a static opposing or attracting magnetic field between the coils. The coils are counter-wound so that any normal RF signal will be picked up by both coils simultaneously and effectively cancel itself out, leaving only the scalar component.

Even though a scalar wave train does not contain the regular EM components that are used by radio frequency communications, it can still be detected by a normal RF antenna, if that antenna is in the presence of some other static magnetic field. When the scalar wave train passes through, the theory states that the wave train will create a disturbance in the field surrounding that magnet and make the field lines move, which will impart a small electrical current in the standard RF antenna, as if the magnet itself were moved.

Since all normal RF antennas are immersed in the magnetic field of the planet, they can serve as crude scalar detectors, though the reception will be extremely weak and washed out by any normal RF in the vicinity. Detection ability is greatly increased by enclosing the antenna and circuitry in a faraday cage so as to shield it from ambient RF energy, and by placing a very strong magnet near the antenna inside the cage.

A scalar wave is a purported type of electromagnetic wave that works outside physics as we know it.

The central conceit is that scalar waves restore certain useful aspects of Maxwell's equations "discarded" in the 19^th century by those fools Heaviside, Hertz and Gibbs.^[1] Nikola Tesla was also interested in them, in his more-than-a-little-odd period.

Free energy advocates have pushed the concept since the 1990s,^[2] particularly Thomas E. Bearden. It has since been adopted by some alternative medicine practitioners as the new "quantum": a universally-applicable sciencey handwave to support any arbitrary claim whatsoever.^[3] Conspiracy theorists hold that it is behind weather-changing superweapons that brought down space shuttle Columbia.

In real physics[edit]

In physics, a quantity described as "scalar" only contains information about its magnitude. In contrast, a "vector" quantity contains information both about its magnitude and about its direction. By this definition, a "scalar wave" in physics would be defined as any solution to a "scalar wave equation".^[4] In reality, this definition is far too general to be useful, and as a result the term "scalar wave" is used exclusively by cranks and peddlers of woo.

Solutions to scalar wave equations are actually quite preval‎ent (and useful) in physics. Some prominent examples include acoustic (sound) waves, the motion of a taut string being stretched (such as a guitar string being plucked), and the motion of waves in water (such as the ripples from a stone being dropped into a pond). In contrast, electromagnetic waves are vector quantities derived as solutions to a set of vector wave equations (in this case Maxwell's equations).

The concept of a "scalar field theory"^[5] also exists, and plays an important role in several branches of physics. In comparison, "scalar waves" have never been observed in nature, and are rooted in sound physics about as well as the average chemtrail is rooted to the ground (not at all).

Free energy subculture[edit]

The main current proponent of scalar wave pseudophysics is zero-point energy advocate Thomas E. Bearden, who has concocted an entire pseudoscientific "scalar field theory" unrelated to anything in actual physics of that name. It starts with Maxwell's equations originally having been written as quaternions; Bearden holds that the (mathematical) transformation to vectors lost important information.^[1]

Bearden says that scalar waves differ from conventional electromagnetic transverse waves by having two oscillations anti-parallel with each other, each originating from opposite charge sources, thereby lacking any net directionality. The waves are conjugates of each other, and so, if left unperturbed, can pass through ordinary matter with relative ease. So they are not included in mainstream physics. They don't work like ordinary longitudinal waves either. (Got that?)^[6]

You can apparently make scalar waves with a bifilar coil (one wound with a pair of wires instead of a single wire) and pushing opposing currents through the wires (join the far ends together). So if you want to experiment with this stuff, you can build a remarkable just-post-steampunk lab filled with coils and wires and sparks.^[7] The really astonishing thing about this — which fascinated Tesla for years and years^[8] — is that you can pour practically limitless amounts of power into such an apparatus and achieve precisely nothing other than converting electricity into heat — each of the two wires in the coil produces a magnetic field, but since the currents are going in opposite directions, the two magnetic fields cancel out.

Richard C. Hoagland thinks Col. Bearden is dead right. So much so that he has adopted Bearden's view and given it a different name, "hyperdimensional physics." According to him, the vectorization of Maxwell's quaternions eliminated a whole dimension from which energy magically appears. Hoagland is so mathematically challenged that it's doubtful if he even understands what a quaternion is, let alone knows how to use one in a calculation. Certainly in all he has written and said about HD physics^[9] he has never cited a single one of the quaternions.

Scalar superweapon conspiracy theory[edit]

According to Bearden, the Scalar Interferometer is a powerful superweapon that the Soviet Union used for years to modify weather in the rest of the world.^[10] It taps the quantum vacuum energy, using a method discovered by T. Henry Moray in the 1920s.^[11] It may have brought down the Columbia spacecraft.^[12] However, some conspiracy theorists believe Bearden is an agent of disinformation on this topic.^[13]

Bearden was pushing the medical effects of scalar waves as early as 1991. He specifically attributed their powers to cure AIDS, cancer and genetic diseases to their quantum effects and their use in "engineering the Schrödinger equation." They are also useful in mind control.^[14]

Scalar waves appear to have broken out into the woo mainstream around 2005 or 2006, with this text (now widely quoted as the standard explanation) from The Heart of Health; the Principles of Physical Health and Vitality by Stephen Linsteadt, NHD:

“”Scalar waves are produced when two electromagnetic waves of the same frequency are exactly out of phase (opposite to each other) and the amplitudes subtract and cancel or destroy each other. The result is not exactly an annihilation of magnetic fields but a transformation of energy back into a scalar wave. This scalar field has reverted back to a vacuum state of potentiality. Scalar waves can be created by wrapping electrical wires around a figure eight in the shape of a Möbius coil. When an electric current flows through the wires in opposite directions, the opposing electromagnetic fields from the two wires cancel each other and create a scalar wave. The DNA antenna in our cells' energy production centers (mitochondria) assumes the shape of what is called a super-coil. Supercoil DNA look like a series of Möbius coils. These Möbius supercoil DNA are hypothetically able to generate scalar waves. Most cells in the body contain thousands of these Möbius supercoils, which are generating scalar waves throughout the cell and throughout the body.^[15]

At this point it was all-in. Scalar waves explain homeopathy,^[16] achieve lymph detoxification^[17], cure diabetes, short sightedness, kidney stones, Parkinson's, strokes, arthritis,^[18] cancer,^[14] and reverse the aging process.^[19]

Scalar waves are also part of the biological powers of ORMUS.^[20]

"Harmonized H₂O" is a drinkable sunscreen, made only of pure water, that works by scalar waves.^[21] It apparently cancels out the UVA and UVB slightly above the skin.^[22]

Scalar Wave Laser[edit]

The Scalar Wave Laser is a "quantum cold laser rejuvenation technology" which "combines the most advanced low level laser technology with state of the art quantum scalar waves."^[23]

The device is a small handheld unit with a wand end that shines light on the patient's skin. It uses eight 5mW 650nm (red) laser diodes and eight 5mw 780nm (near infrared) laser diodes. Oddly, these happen to be the wavelengths used for DVD and CD reading, respectively. It also has 20 5mW violet LEDs. The unit costs only $3500.^[24]

The laser directly delivers energy (photons) and electrons directly to cells. The mitochondria convert the photons to ATP, promptly initiating healing and rejuvenation.^[25]

The Scalar Wave Laser also cures goat polio.^[26]

In popular culture[edit]

"The Black Weapon", a "scalar weapon"^[27] that generates a non-nuclear electromagnetic pulse, is the MacGuffin in the single-player campaign for Battlefield: Bad Company 2.

The old PBEM game "VGA Planets" has among the engines that can equip a ship a "Scalar Wave Thruster"^[28]. It has a fair energy output and is very resistant to damage, but gives low speed.
