생략법 [Ellipsis]
문 가운데 일부를 생략해도 능히 의사전달이 된다면 그렇게 생각하는 것이 시간적으로나 노력상에 있어서 절약이 되므로 편리하게 된다. 그 한 예로서 명령문에서 주어 “you”를 생략하고 쓰는 것으로 능히 알 수 있다.
생략법[ellipsis]를 써서 간소화된 문을 elliptical sentence라고 하는데 그 생략하는 법은 아무렇게나 하는 것이 아니고, 어디까지나 문법에 맞게 해야 모든 사람이 보아서 갖은 의미를 취하게 된다. 바꿔 말하면 생략된 문을 읽는 데는 상당한 상당한 문법지식이 필요하다. Ellipsis가 많이 쓰인 문은 격언, 명구,시가 시가], 광고문, 신문 기사 제목인데, 이 모두 문법지식이 없이는 정혹하게 이해하기는 곤란하다.
[주의] - 원문에는 괄호친 부분이 없다. 따라서 ( )안은 참고만 하자.

㉷ Common Relation (공통관계 구문)dp 의한 생략법 :
Sentence 안의 한 어구가 다른 두 개 혹은 그 이상의 어구에 대하여 공통으로 관계되는 것을 common relation이라고 한다. 마치 수학에서 보면 A x C+ B X C = ( A + B ) x "C" dl "C"는 A와 Bdp 대하여 공통 관계에 있으므로 방정식의 오른편과 같이 그 하나를 생략하게 되는 것이다. 이도 생략법의 한 가지다.
• A man's best fortune or his worst is his wife. 사내의 최대의 행복도 또는 최대의 불행도 그의 아내다.

㉸ 시문과 생략법 : 시나 노래에서는 metre (음절의 수), rhythm(운율) rhyme(각운)을 갖추기 위해서 inversion(어순전치법)과 ellipsis(생략법)을 쓰는 일이 많다. 그것이 시문을 이해하기 곤란한 원인이 된다.

사정이나 전후 관계에 따라 말의 뜻이 잘 통할 때는, 형태상 릴부 말을 빼는 일이 있다, 이 현상을 생략이라고
부르고 생략[Ellipsis]dl 이루어져 있는 말을 Elliptical Sentence라고 한다.

수동태로 바꾸면 ➔ Thɑt he is the richest man in the city is said (by them.).
주어가 너무 길다. 따라서 가주어 it을 사용하여 고치면 아래와 같다. them은 일반적인 사람이므로 생략

성경 사본의 차이에서 발생됩니다. 성경사본은 여러종류가 있으며 각 번역은 각기 기준을 정한 원칙에 따라 사본을 채택하기 때문에 이런 차이가 발생할 수도 있습니다. 그러나 전체적으로 보았을 때 성경의 원래 흐름에는 전혀 방해를 주지 못하며 성서 사본의 사소한 차이로 인해 그 뜻이 왜곡되는 경우는 없습니다.
사본채택의 원칙은
1. 오래된 사본이 이후의 것 보다 우선한다.2. 어려운 본문이 평이한 본문에 우선한다.3. 짧은 본문이 긴 본문에 우선한다.4. 저자의 특색을 잘 드러내는 본문이 우선한다.5. 없는 것이 있는 것에 우선한다.
