Rossini, Tu le sais bien bon Dieu        Sandro Botticelli Italian Early Renaissance artist born 1445 - died 1510 그의 대표작인 '비너스의 탄생 Birth of Venus (1485경),·봄 Primavera(1477~78)은 현대인에게 르네상스의 정신을 가장 잘 요약해 보여주는 작품으로 간주되기도 한다. 피렌체의 모든 주요교회들과 로마 시스티나 예배당의 종교화를 그렸다. 그는 교황 식스투스 4세의 초청으로 로마에 가서 1481년 여름부터 1482년 봄까지 머물며 교황의 초상화 몇 점과 시스티나 예배당의 벽면에 대형 프레스코 3점을 그렸는데 페루지노, 기를란다요, 코시모 로셀리, 시뇨렐리, 핀투리키오, 피에트로 디 코시모 등의 유명한 화가들도 이 일에 함께 참여했다.   그외에도 그는 1480년대에 피렌체의 예배당과 교회에 많은 프레스코와 그림들을 남겼다. 그의 후기 작품은 규모가 점점 작아지고 북유럽의 양식과 그가 젊었을 때 배운 화가들의 전통에 따라  의식적으로 시대에 뒤떨어진 양식을 받아들인 것이 눈에 띈다. 그는 해부학적 사실과는 관계없이 표현적·장식적으로 형태를 왜곡하여 묘사했다. 후기 작품들에서는 또한 무지개 색조에 기초를 둔 보다 선명한 색조가 특징적이다. 보티첼리는 1510년에 생을 마감했으며 피렌체의 오니산티 교회에 묻혔다.                                                                           Daum 백과사전 요약 2009.2.9.
