The Avatamsaka Sutra, Chief in Goodness (현수품 38-9)

[眞如華]

     38-9.

     無量億劫勤修學      得是無上菩提智

     云何不於一念中      普知一切衆生心

     한량없는 억겁에 부지런히 닦고 배워

     가장 높은 보리 지혜를 얻으니

     어찌하여 한 생각 가운데

     널리 일체 중생의 마음을 알지 못하겠는가.

If one has diligently practiced and learned for countless eons

And attained the supreme knowledge of enlightenment,

How would such a one not be able

To instantly know the minds of all beings?

If one has diligently practiced and learned

; 부지런히 닦고 배워

for countless eons; 한량없는 억겁에

And attained; 얻으니

the supreme knowledge of enlightenment

; 가장 높은 보리 지혜를

How would such a one; 어찌하여

not be able To ~ know; 알지 못하겠는가

instantly; 한 생각 가운데

the minds of all beings; 널리 일체 중생의 마음을
