O LORD, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth!

주의 영광을 하늘위에 두셨나이다

You have set your glory above the heavens.

주의 대적을 인하여 어린 아이와 젖먹이의 입으로 말미암아 권능을 세우심이여

From the lips of children and infants you have ordained praise

이는 원수와 보수자로 잠잠케 하려 하심이니이다

because of your enemies, to silence the foe and the avenger.

주의 손가락으로 만드신 주의 하늘과

When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers,

주의 베풀어 두신 달과 별들을 내가 보오니

the moon and the stars, which you have set in place,

세례와 성찬에 담긴 연합의 의미 The meaning of Union in Baptism and Holy Communion

물은 예수 그리스도의 부활하심으로 말미암아 이제 너희를 구원하는 표니 곧 세례라 육체의 더러운 것을 제하여 버림이 아니요 오직 선한 양심이 하나님을 향하여 찾아가는 것이라 베드로전서 3:21

내가 너희에게 전한 것은 주께 받은 것이니 곧 주 예수께서 잡히시던 밤에 떡을 가지사 축사하시고 떼어 가라사대 이것은 너희를 위하는 내 몸이니 이것을 행하여 나를 기념하라 하시고 식후에 또한 이와 같이 잔을 가지시고 가라사대 이 잔은 내 피로 세운 새 언약이니 이것을 행하여 마실 때마다 나를 기념하라 하셨으니 너희가 이 떡을 먹으며 이 잔을 마실 때마다 주의 죽으심을 오실 때까지 전하는 것이니라. 고린도전서 11:23-26

Corresponding to that, baptism now saves you--not the removal of dirt from the flesh, but an appeal to God for a good conscience--through the resurrection of Jesus Christ, 1 Peter 3:21

For I received from the Lord that which I also delivered to you, that the Lord Jesus in the night in which He was betrayed took bread; and when He had given thanks, He broke it and said, "This is My body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of Me." In the same way He took the cup also after supper, saying, "This cup is the new covenant in My blood; do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me." For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord's death until He comes 1 Corinthians 11:23-26

오늘 미국 교회에 두 분에게 세례를 드립니다. 참 기쁘고 감사한 일입니다. 그래서 오늘은 세례와 성찬에 담긴 연합의 사상이라는 제목으로 말씀을 드리려 합니다. 이 말씀을 증거 하는 과정은 예수님 이전에 주어지신 언약과 예수님 당시의 언약, 그리고 오늘날에 이루어지는 언약을 구분하고 이 연관성을 설명하는 것이 되겠습니다. 언약은 약속인데 이는 실상을 전제로 하고 있습니다.

먼저 세례는 그 이전에 할례의 내용이 계승된 것입니다. 그러므로 그 안의 본질적 내용은 달라지지 않고 형식에서는 변화가 있었습니다. 할례는 자녀를 생산하는 과정에서의 구별됨을 표현합니다. 왜냐하면 주님 이전 시대는 실제 이스라엘이 민족적으로 구별된 백성이었고 하나님의 선택이 혈통을 좇아 이루어졌던 때였기 때문에 할례로서 구별됨을 표현했습니다.

할례가 주님 때 세례로 변경되면서 이 구별됨의 내용은 그대로 유지가 되지만 형식은 물로서 씻긴다는 의미로 바뀌게 됩니다. 즉 세례를 받는 실제적 내용은 내 죄를 씻는다는 의미만이 아니고 구별됨의 의미인 것입니다. 그럼 오늘 우리를 다른 이들과 구별되게 하는 것이 무엇일까요? 그것은 우리가 가진 말씀의 이해, 우리에게 주신 주와의 연합의 믿음입니다. 오직 이 믿음이 우리를 같은 세상을 살지만 구별된 하늘에 속한 하나님의 자녀로 살게 합니다.

성찬은 주께서 잡히시던 밤에 제자들과 마지막 만찬을 하시면서 주신 제도입니다. 떡과 포도주를 함께 나누시면서 그것들을 주님의 피와 살이라 하시고 이를 먹을 때마다 주를 기념하라 하셨습니다. 많은 이들이 주님의 피와 살을 피 흘리시고 살 찢으심이라고 설명합니다. 그러면 오직 고통을 기억하는 일 밖에 없습니다. 그리고 두 가지를 나누어 말씀하실 필요도 없습니다.

성찬의 이전 형식과 의미는 유월절 어린양에게서 찾을 수 있습니다. 그 날은 해방의 날이었고 이스라엘 백성이 먹은 어린양은 고통의 모습이 아닌 일종의 잔치였습니다. 여기서 생각할 것은 어떻게 양 고기를 먹는 것이 해방의 의미와 연결이 되느냐는 것입니다. 이는 주님의 살과 피를 또 어떻게 먹고 마시느냐는 질문과도 같습니다. 이는 오직 주님과의 연합의 의미로만 이해될 수 있습니다.

주님의 십자가는 표면으로는 고난과 희생이었지만 이를 두고 주님의 피와 살을 먹으라 하신 것은 그것이 곧 나의 생명과 나의 삶이 된다는 내용을 담고 있습니다. 이는 유월절 어린양을 먹는 것에도 그대로 적용될 수 있습니다. 우리가 주님을 먹는다는 의미는 나의 인격에 주님이 연합하심으로 나의 나 됨에 대한 이해가 이전과 달라집니다. 이것이 새로워짐이고 거듭남이고 위에서 난 자가 되는 것입니다.

이제는 형식이 바뀌는 시대가 아닙니다. 오직 내용이 실제화 되는 시대입니다. 우리는 여전히 세례를 베풀고 성찬을 행하지만 그 의미는 비단 성찬식과 세례식에 국한되지 않고 나의 인격과 모든 삶에서 진행될 것이며 그렇게 우리는 구별된 자의 삶을 살게 될 것입니다.

I'm baptizing you in the Church of America today. It's a pleasure and a pleasure. So I'm going to talk about the idea of the union in baptism and the Eucharist. The process of testifying this statement will be to distinguish and explain the connection between the covenant given before Jesus, the covenant at the time of Jesus, and the covenant that is made today. A covenant is a promise, which is based on reality.

First of all, baptism was inherited from the contents of the circumcision before that. Therefore, the essential content of it did not change, but there was a change in form. The circumcision expresses distinction in the process of producing children. The pre-Lord era expressed distinction as a circumcision because Israel was actually an ethnically distinct people and God's choices were made in accordance with bloodlines.

As circumcision changes to baptism during the Lord, the content of this distinction remains the same, but the form changes to the meaning of washing with water. In other words, the actual content of being baptized is not just a meaning of washing my sins, but a meaning of being distinguished. So what sets us apart today? It is the understanding of what we have, the belief of the union with the Lord, that has given us. Only this belief makes us live in the same world but as the children of God in a distinct sky.

The Holy Communion is the system given to you during your last dinner with your disciples on the night the Lord was caught. They shared rice cakes and wine together, calling them the Lord's blood and flesh, and commemorating the Lord every time you eat them. Many explain that the Lord's blood and flesh are shed and the flesh is torn. Then all you have to do is remember the pain. And there is no need to say two things separately.

The previous form and meaning of the Eucharist can be found in the Passover Lamb. It was the day of liberation, and the Lamb that the people of Israel ate was a kind of feast, not an appearance of pain. What we think about here is how is eating lamb meat linked to the meaning of liberation. It is like a question of how to eat and drink the flesh and blood of the Lord. It can only be understood as a meaning of union with the Lord.

On the surface, the Lord's cross was hardship and sacrifice, but the fact that he was told to eat the Lord's blood and flesh tells us that it will be my life and my life. This can also be applied to eating a lamb for the holidays. The meaning that we eat the Lord is united in my personality, so my understanding of who I am is is different from before. This is new and reborn, and I am from above.

This is no time for form change. It is an era in which content becomes reality only. We still baptize and hold communion, but the meaning is not limited to communion and baptism, but it will take place in my personality and in every life, so that we will live a life of a distinct person.
