Outreach Classes

Angklung Choir: Learn to play an Indonesian instrument. Easy to learn. Fun to play. Nice to hear. When a set of angklung is distributed to a group, each person is responsible for one note of the song and plays it by shaking the suspended bamboo tubes vigorously. Everyone has to work together to create beautiful music.

Bible Work: Have you ever wondered how to share what you believe? This course will show you how to study the Bible and how to share it with others. Using the “Ezra” model in Ezra 7:10, “…Ezra had prepared his heart to seek the law of the Lord, and to do it, and to teach in Israel statutes and judgments.” We will teach how to share simple studies from the Bible, make friends, and find Bible study interests.

Child Evangelism: Do you love children? Do you want to let them know more about Jesus, but just aren’t sure how? Child evangelism will help you teach fun Bible songs, tell captivating stories, plan creative crafts, and share your joy in reaching children for Jesus. Come join the team in preparing and presenting an engaging program for children on Sabbath afternoon.

Choir: If you enjoy learning new songs, singing in parts, and touching lives through music, then this outreach is for you! Note: You must enjoy singing.

Health Evangelism: In this class, you will discover the causes of diseases and how to prevent common diseases by developing healthy habits, teach how to screen for habits that hurt vs. heal, learn to do simple health screening (blood pressure and pulse check and weight eval‎uation), offer health counseling, as well as simple natural remedies such as chair massage. Sound like fun? Learn Jesus’ method of sharing God’s love through meeting people’s physical needs.

Mission Adventures: Come on a simulated mission adventure where you will discover cultures, religions, and lifestyles of unreached people groups from various mission areas. Gain tools to prepare you to follow God’s calling and plan for your own life and become more grounded in your faith. Come prepared to share your passion for Jesus!

Outreach Crafts: This class will involve a combination of projects that will share God’s love and encouragement with others. You will see the value in making gifts to bless people. A visit to a nursing home on Sabbath to distribute the gifts will top off the experience.

Recreation Classes

Auto Mechanics: Does the thought of fixing a flat tire or changing oil make you uncomfortable? It doesn’t have to anymore. This class will teach you how to take care of your car’s basic needs.

Basket Weaving: Basket weaving is a class that can include anything from the pretty to the practical. We will get you started to make a variety of things, such as fruit or picnic baskets–all from the woods or your backyard.

Carpentry: Do you want to learn a practical skill that will benefit you throughout your life? Then, you will enjoy carpentry! You will work with a carpenter to make a useful project!

Canoeing: This class covers basic canoeing strokes, maneuvers, and safety. To cap the week, you will enjoy a canoeing trip that will help you put into practice the skills you have learned! Prerequisite: Intermediate swimming certificate or ability to swim continuously 100 yards.

Crocheting: Learn how to make useful and pretty accessories, decoration items, and practical gifts with only yarn and a crochet hook. Bring: Crochet hook sizes J – 6.0 mm or K – 6.5 mm, and size 4 yarn in the color of your choice.

Drawing: Enjoy viewing the world from an artist’s perspective, as you learn the basic elements of art. Practice sketching structures and shapes, shading, and still life drawing. Bring: A number 2 pencil, a sharpener, a hi-polymer eraser, and a sketchpad.

Fitness Training: Being fit and strong is an important part of being able to serve God to the fullest; but, sometimes, getting started can be challenging! This class will provide you with motivation and ideas on putting together your own exercise plan.

Intermediate Guitar: This class will take the Beginning Guitar class from last year to the next level. Campers will learn music scales, the CAGED guitar system, and chord progressions on the guitar. Prerequisite: Took Beginning Guitar at camp previously or has basic guitar knowledge and experience. Bring: Guitar

Kitchen Creations: If you like to cook or just want to try to cook, here is a class that you’ll really enjoy. There will be instruction on nutrition and cooking techniques.

Photography: Want to take great pictures, but don’t know where to start? This class will teach you the principles of composition, lighting, and angles to create more interesting pictures. Throughout the week, you will have opportunities to practice these skills and receive tips to improve. Bring: Camera

Spanish: Master the basics of conversational Spanish. Campers will leave with the ability to engage in simple conversations. Some memory verses and other surprises in Spanish will also be learned.

Theme Classes

Baking: Learn how to bake muffins, pizza crust, cookies, pretzels, communion bread, pie crust, crackers, and different kinds of breads.

Beginning Horsemanship: This class is designed for those who love horses and want to learn more about them, but don’t have access to or experience with them. Learn basic grooming, feeding, tacking, general care, and safety around horses. Includes time with horses to learn how to have a balanced seat, start, stop, and turn the horse. Bring: a helmet, boots, and girls bring pants and tunics.

First Aid, CPR, AED: Learn how to act fast in a medical emergency, and possibly save someone’s life! If you pass the written and practical skills tests, you will receive a certificate from the American Red Cross for First Aid, Adult, Child, and Infant CPR, and Adult and Child AED. Minimum age: 14. Class fee: $40

Literature Evangelism: You—yes, you—can be an effective colporteur! After learning from an experienced literature evangelism teacher and practicing your skills in the classroom, you will share your faith through the printed word by going out into the community for actual experience. We will send you a canvass to memorize before camp. Bring: Walking shoes, book bag, and memorized canvass.

Medical Missionary Training: Tap into the healing power of God’s nature using simple tools and natural remedies. This practical class includes introduction to massage, hydrotherapy, and more. Bring: Bible, Ministry of Healing, and an old T-shirt to wear over your clothes when mixing charcoal.

Missionary Pilot Ground School: Ever dream of becoming a missionary pilot? This class will give you a jumpstart toward fulfilling your dream. The basic ground school course covers what you need to know before you are ready to take to the skies. Bring: Notebook, pens or pencils, and a pocket calculator. Minimum age: 14. Class fee: $50 for an actual flight lesson.

Principles of Fashion Design from a Christian Perspective: A stylist and fashion designer will help you explore the basic fundamentals of fashion design from a Christian perspective and learn basic sewing and patternmaking skills while digging into topics such as: “Is fashion important to the Christian?” “Does God really care what I wear?” and “How do I dress modestly and modern for ‘my’ age?” Our goal for each camper is to leave with a tangible item made by the camper, an understanding of basic sewing skills, and to have an in-depth knowledge of the spiritual standpoint of dress for the Christian youth. Bring: a sewing machine and fabric. Details will be sent to those who register for this class.

Wilderness Survival: Wonder what you would do if you ever got lost in the wilderness? In this class you’ll learn how to live in the wild without everyday conveniences. Included will be wilderness safety, cooking over a fire, identifying useful and dangerous plants and animals, and shelter-building techniques. Weather permitting, campers will experience a night sleeping in a shelter that they built. Bring: 3–4 inch sturdy knife, backpacker’s tarp (small enough to fit in a large pocket), small roll of paracord, and a lighter.

Young Entrepreneur: Learn how to start your own business online. Whether you are launching your own business in your youth just for fun, wanting to make extra money for college, or following your current career passion in life, you’ll learn what it takes to run your own successful business. We will cover how to set up your business online, the importance of ministry in your business, how to be a Christian influencer, and more. Minimum age: 14. Prerequisite: Have a type of business in mind you desire to start and have a passion and gift for. Bring: 3-ring binder and pencils.
