7>How Did Abraham Get Righteousness > Summary
Rom 4:13>2025.11.2. Week> Pastor Kim Ho-il of the church that loves Osaka.
Rome is the gospel to save the Gentiles. In the latter part of Rom 3, he explained the task of how these sinners can be righteous before God when all mankind is sinners. In the end, he stressed that no matter how hard they try, they cannot be righteous before God, but only by believing in Jesus Christ. And Rom 4 emphasized that by taking Abraham and David, whom the Jews most respect, they gain righteousness by faith. Abraham is the ancestor of the people of Israel, the ancestor of the Arab people. He is the ancestor of the Christians who are scattered around the world. This representative reason for introducing Abraham was to emphasize that this person was also righteous by faith, not by an act of the law. In Abraham's time, there was no law. Rom 4:13>The promise to Abraham or his descendants to be the descendants of the world was not caused by the law. It is only by the righteousness of faith. These words were recognized as the ancestors of faith and blessed that Abraham was righteous by faith and that his descendants would be descendants of the world.
Some Jews, however, argued that Abraham was circumcised and therefore righteous. Of course, Abraham was circumcised. But Abraham was circumcised by faith before being circumcised. After that, God's covenant ordered Abraham and his descendants to salute, and Abraham and all their descendants were circumcised.
Today, because we also believe in Jesus, we get righteousness through God's grace. Therefore, faith is a channel of receiving God's grace. Grace is God's favor to those who do not deserve it. The Bible says that Abraham believed in God and that this was considered righteous to me.
Rom 4:4-5>Those who work do not regard their wages as grace, but as debt, and those who believe in those who do not work as righteousness, regard his faith as righteousness. This saying says that what you receive in return for work is not grace, but wages. However, it is grace to think that you have obeyed the word of righteousness when you have no ability and no work to do. Therefore, it is God's grace to obtain righteousness, so we have nothing to boast about. Abraham believed in God by believing in the promise that your descendants would grow like the stars in the sky. It is an impossible environment, but he believed in God's power. The word of God has power. Therefore, if we believe, it is done. Therefore, we must have the same faith as Abraham. Abraham did not know the gospel in detail, but he believed in the word that God was born a savior to save mankind from his descendants.
Abraham believed in the Messiah who will come, but we must believe in Jesus Christ who came to this earth to save all mankind. Also
In Galadians 3:7, he said, "Those who have faith know that they are Abraham's sons." This means that those who believe in God the same as the God Abraham believed in will be Abraham's son. Just as Abraham got the covenant of God righteous by faith, we have to believe that we can get the righteousness of Christ by faith. Abraham emphasized that he was righteous before he was circumcised, conscious of the claims of those who converted from Judaism that he should be circumcised. Therefore, it is an illusion that today there are those who claim that if baptized, they will be saved and go to heaven. Faith is important. You must sincerely believe in Jesus. You must be determined to be obedient to your king and master and receive him. You must also receive him as a savior, repent of your sins, and be forgiven.
