A few days ago, I watched a movie entitled <inkheart> with my husband.
This is a kind of big budgeted fantasy movie and a story about a man who has a magical power.
A man discovers that when he reads text in books loudly, the things he reads about become reality. Years ago, he brought some characters from a book to this real world by chance, and instead of them his wife disappeared into it. In order to find out his wife, he has been looking for the book which his wife is locked in for years. Then one day, he is captured by a book villain that he accidentally brought to life and the story progresses from there.
In fact, I couldn't concentrate on the story while I saw the movie. I'm not sure that it is because of my personal taste in movie. Anyway, whenever I see fantasy movies, I become confused easily. Too many characters and too many special effects make my mind disordered. And I think some characters' acting is kind of awkward by the reason of an realistic story.
But the idea itself is really cool. This movie reminds me of a book named <a dreaming garret> which I read months ago. The author cites several examples that stories in novels became realities. Maybe he wants to explain his theory what someone imagines vividly may actually happen.
"A word has a soul." This is a Japanese proverb. That means a word has a great power. Therefore we should be careful in our everyday's speech. We often use a Korean proverb, "A word can be a seed(cause)." in the same meaning. This movie seems to emphasize our responsibility for words and writings.
A writer who wrote <inkheart> in this movie says to a character of his book, "I made your personality and future, but you can choose and change them by yourself." It means that our future depends on our choice, even though it is impossible to change our past.
I could not be satisfied with this movie 100 percent. But It was significant to me, not just because it has instructive messages. This is the first movie to see with my husband since we got married.

첫댓글 That's why we have to be careful when we talk to kids. When we scold kids for something, we should use the words like " 이 성공할 놈아, 이 사랑받을 놈아 TT" It's regretful that I can't describe the words in English.^^
^^I totally agree with you!
