The Avatamsaka Sutra, Chief in Goodness (현수품 41-5)

[眞如華]

     41-5.

     趣大乘者猶爲易      能信此法倍更難

     況復持誦爲人說      如法修行眞實解

     대승에 나아가는 자는 오히려 쉽거니와

     능히 이 법을 믿는 이는 배나 다시 어렵거늘

     하물며 다시 지니고 외우고 남을 위해 설하며

     여법하게 수행하고 진실하게 아는 사람이겠는가.

But striving for the Great Vehicle is still easy

Compared to the greater difficulty of believing this teaching.

Even more difficult it is to retain, recite, and explain it for others,

To practice according to the teaching and truly understand it.

But striving for the Great Vehicle; 대승에 나아가는 자는

is still easy; 오히려 쉽거니와

Compared to the greater difficulty; 배나 다시 어렵거늘

of believing this teaching; 능히 이 법을 믿는 이는

Even more difficult it is; 하물며 ~ 사람이겠는가

to retain, recite; 다시 지니고 외우고

and explain it for others; 남을 위해 설하며

To practice according to the teaching; 여법하게 수행하고

and truly understand it; 진실하게 아는
