Hiii i’m Ocho! I’m a brave boy even though I’m still a bit scared of vacuums!
My mom was pregnant and rescued last year, and gave birth to us 10 siblings in the shelter.
All of my siblings got adopted, and I was also adopted by new family!
But after a year, I was abandoned for no reason.
I had no idea what was going on. I was put in a strange car and sent back to the shelter...
Did I do something wrong...?
Now my mom has also been adopted and lives LA, but I’m left here alone.
People who heard my story donated for me and keep trying to find me a family!
I really hope I won’t get abandoned this time…
I promise I can be a good boy!
Would you be my family?
🧡Name: Ocho
🌸Sex: Male (Neutered)
🌸Age : 1 year (Born on Aug 17th, 2021)
🌸Weight: 11.5 kg (12.22, 2022)
🌸Breed: Mutt
1.Getting used to strangers or new environments:
👉 Ocho is highly adaptabable. He was sniffing around the house and ate well within about 5 minutes of coming here.
2.When his current foster parents first met Ocho:
👉 He seemed scared but was also gentle when I came to the shelter to take him to my place. He was also very easygoing during the car ride, and gets along very well with my dog. He was also much too skinny for his size.
3.Sociability with people:
👉 Very good. He doesn’t mind if you are stranger. He could bark for first 3-4 times but stops when I say no and would come to you to let you pet him. He follows me everywhere I go.
4.Reaction to Children
👉 Hasn’t met any yet.
5.Fear of people based on gender
👉 For the first 2-3 days, he barked at my husband when he came back from work or came out to the living room in the morning. However I don’t think it’s a gender thing, rather he is just a little wary about someone unfamiliar getting into his space. But now Ocho doesn’t bark at my husband anymore and sticks close to him.
6.Reaction to other dogs
👉 He seemed not interested in my dog at the very beginning but now they always play together and get along really well.
7.Reaction to cat:
👉 Hasn’t met any yet.
8.Barking Habit:
👉 He barks when he hears sounds outside the door, however he stops when I say no.
He also could bark when a stranger visits your home, but soon after he will come to them and let them pet him. He will stop barking if you say no in this case as well.
9.Biting Issue:
👉 None. He hates cleaning his face when I give him a shower but still he wasn’t aggressive at all.
10.Eating habits/favorite food
👉 He loooves food, though he’s not a big fan of vegetables or fruits. He tends to eat food in a hurry and finishes his bowl within 10 seconds. I recommend to use a special food bowl for him to prevent any sudden indigestion.
He’ll eat everything no matter how much you feed him so it’s important for him to eat a limited amount of food.
Due to his big love for food, he can be a bit greedy for other pets’ food. I recommend feeding them meals or snacks in separate rooms if possible.
11.Coprophagis (eating feces)
👉 None
12.Sleeping preferences:
👉 Ocho sleeps on his pad in the living room.
13.Crate Training:
👉 Not quite however, he seemed fine being in the kennel when I took him to my place on the first day.
14.Potty-Training:
👉 Yes. He uses a pee-pad indoors.
15.Marking:
👉 He doesn’t mark indoors but he does when we walk him outside.
16.Playing with toys:
👉 I don’t think he knows how to play with toys. He chases a ball and brings it back to me when I throw it, but he drops it on his way back.
17.Separation Anxiety:
👉 Yes. He whines a bit.
18.Walking Outside/Harness issues:
👉 Ocho loves walking outside and has no issue with a harness. But he’s too excited to be outside and tends to pull the leash a bit and walk in a zigzag, so you should grab and leash tight and try to lead him!
19.Does he recognize his name? Does he come to you when you call him outside?
👉 He recognizes his name. I haven’t done off-leash outdoors yet but he always comes when I call him in the house.
20.Understood Commands:
👉 “Paw”(I think his pre-owner trained him this.) Though he’s still young and smart, there’s always room for him to learn so many fun things!
21.Health Issues/Required Treatments:
👉 He doesn’t have health issues but because he’s so skinny for his size, it would be wonderful if you could help ensure he gains some weight.
22.Car-Training
👉 He’s fine being in a car and also has no motion sickness.
23.Things of note for interested Families:
👉 He’s a very skinny boy, so he needs help to gain some weight with a good-balanced diet meal. He can be a bit obsessive with food and could become a little aggressive if you get too close to him while he’s eating or if you try to steal his food.
24.Ideal Family:
👉 Ocho can be little jealous, but he has been getting along very well with my dog so far, so I think he would fit both being an only pet or second pet.
Ocho is a total sweetheart and is very loving. I hope you consider the notes I wrote about him up here, and be a cozy place for him to thrive. The few things mentioned above to be wary of are merely in the spirit of full disclosure, however it has been an absolute joy having him in our home, and I am sure you will feel the same.
Most importantly, a family who will never abandon him and give him love till he finishes his journey would be best, especially since he has already been abandoned before.
Ocho has been living in his first foster home for a few days now and is doing great there! He gets along with their other dog and is being a good boy.

📌 In the spirit of full disclosure, please bear in mind that we did not include everything the family had to say about Ocho, as these are negative comments written by parents who chose to abandon him after a year.
According to the shelter personnel, he doesn’t seem aggressive or show any signs of treating others based on status.
📌 All volunteers who met him during his transfer mentioned how sweet and easygoing Ocho was. He did not care if they were strangers, he just wanted to be loved. He also has no issues being in a car and loves walking outside.
❗❗ For the first few days when you adopt or foster a new dog, they could always act differently than expected. This is only because they are scared of new environments and it takes time to get used to a new place, and is not at all indicative that there is a problemㅠㅠ
