1. Demand Trend
□ Automotive Industry
○ The master plan for automotive industry 2012~2016 is published by Thailand automotive institute, ministry of industry shown the production and market situation in Thailand of Automobile section that during 2000~2006, the production structure of Thailand automotive industry was mainly to satisfy domestic demand. Domestic sales to export ratio was 65:45. Since 2007, the ratio shifted to 50:50 revealed that Thailand is a major global automotive production base.
○ Motorcycle production in Thailand is in line with the automobile production that is the production was on the rise after the economic crisis. In 2004, the production peaked at 2.9 million units. Nonetheless, the production significantly decreased in 2005. Importers such as Vietnam, which previously imported motorcycles from Thailand, started their own motorcycle assembly factories. Thus reduced complete build-up units(CBU) import from Thailand and switched to Complete Knock Down units. Since 2005, motorcycle production has been stable at 2.0 million units, primarily for domestic sales. Demand is mainly for replacement of end of life vehicles.
○ Parts, apart from being a major international automobile and motorcycle manufacturers, Thailand is a major part producer. The part production is also in line with automobile and motorcycle production. In 2011, the export value of automotive part was 400 billion baht; 68% automobile parts, 6% motorcycle parts and 26% auto tires. Engine and part has the highest share in parts and component export at 36% as shown.

□ Electrical & electronics industry
○ The electrical &electronics industry is one of Thailand’s largest manufacturing sectors. As the world leader in hard disk drivers(HDD) production and a leading manufacturer in the integrated circuits and semiconductors industries, Thailand provides one of the largest assembly bases in Southeast Asia, and has successfully developed world-scale production capacities within a dynamic and concentrated cluster that continues to increase over the years. The record showed that Thailand’s electrical appliances and electronics(E&E) industry contributes between 25 and 30% of Thailand’s annual export revenue for all industries.
○ With more than 2,300 companies, Thailand’s E &E industry contributes heavily to the country’s economic vigor. Fortified by expertise and innovation, the industry is composed 77% of part and component makers and 23% of end-product assemblers. While the majority of part suppliers are Thai companies, most of the major assemblers are foreign or joint-venture firms.
2. Competition Trend and Distribution Channel
□ Competitor list in Thai industrial lubricant market
○ After calling to the sales and dealer, they are not willing to give the retail price. As there are various specification and quality in industrial lubricant, it is quite hard to get the retail price from them which it is not disclosed because the price is unstable and depends on the company strategy and promotion. However, they show some retail prices on the website as following. - Remark: Average Exchange Rate year 2013 1US $ = 30 Baht

○ HS Code 271019 - Other Petroleum oils and oils obtained from bituminous minerals, other than crude; preparations not elsewhere specified or included, containing by weight 70% or more of petroleum oils or of oils obtained from bituminous minerals, these oils being the basic constituents of the preparations; waste oils. - According to the given HS Code 271019, this is the statistics of importing the product from the overseas into Thai market which are quoted as below. The statistics show that in 2012, Singapore has the biggest market share with USD 326 Million followed by Malaysia with valued USD 274.3 Million. At present, South Korea is the leading importer with valued USD 61.6 Million.

□ Distribution Channel
○ The local producer and oversea manufacturer and supplier of industrial lubricant use the distribution channel by representative/dealer in each local area to get access to the consumer/ manufacturer in Thailand. They will have the sale representative to service the information and proposal to the company directly. Moreover the internet channel and website are the useful way to provide the product information and price list and also avoid the misunderstanding for communication between seller and buyer. |
