미국에서의 한국불교 관련 박사학위자와 논문제목

2002년 5월호 143호 본지에서 수집한 자료로는 한국불교를 주제로 하여 미국에서 석사 혹은 박사를 받은 첫 번째 사람은 임영신씨이다. 중앙대학교를 설립한 사람으로 알려진 임영신씨는 1933년 Tracing the Dominant Factors Which Are Changing Korea from A Buddhist to A Christian Nation이라는 논문으로 남가주 대학교에서 석사학위를 받았다. 이 논문은  Professor  Taylor,  Professor  Hill,  Professor  Cook 씨가 심사한 것으로 되어있다. 아래의 자료는 한국불교를 주제로 박사학위을 받은 한국인이나 타민족 사람 혹은 한국불교는 아니더라도 한국인으로서 불교관계를 주제로 박사학위를 받은 사람들을 본지 편집위원인 이종권씨가 조사한 자료를 토대로 본지에서  몇 사람을 추가하여 만든 것이다.  연도별로 정리하였다.  --편집자 주. 글/이종권  1959Lee, Sang Kun.
