River Park

River Park was a beautiful site filled with vibrant flowers and lovely grounds! With each turn came a new spectacular delight; kayakers cruising down the serene river, mesmerizing gardens comprising of dazzling blooms and greens, and so much more. However, as I sipped on my aromatic coffee at the café, I soon spotted a flyer on the wall containing a QR code. Upon further inspection, I quickly noted that it lead to a donation site supporting the aftermath of the recent Venezuelan earthquakes. This moment revealed to me how blissful and tranquil our lives can be while tragic events simultaneously occur elsewhere. I reflected upon the joyous atmosphere of River Park clashing with the heart-wrenching thought of the thousands of Venezuelans who have lost their lives or remain injured. The bubbling laughter of the kayakers juxtaposing the agonizing search for survivors buried under the rubble of once-grand buildings. The knowledge that I will head home with the full comfort of the epitome of safety to surround me while at this very second, another family could receive the news of their deceased relative, lost to the inevitable power of nature's destruction. As I left a donation to support the search efforts in Venezuela, I wished to spread this message of gratitude and deep reflection. We should always be grateful for the gifts of life and the comfort of safety, as it can disappear all too quickly.

리버 파크(River Park)는 형형색색의 아름다운 꽃들과 잘 가꾸어진 정원으로 가득한 멋진 장소였습니다. 발걸음을 옮길 때마다 새로운 감탄이 이어졌습니다. 잔잔한 강 위를 유유히 지나가는 카약, 눈부시게 아름다운 꽃과 푸른 식물들로 꾸며진 정원 등 곳곳이 아름다운 풍경으로 가득했습니다.

하지만 카페에서 향긋한 커피를 마시던 중, 벽에 붙어 있는 QR 코드가 담긴 전단지를 발견했습니다. 자세히 살펴보니 최근 베네수엘라 지진 피해 복구를 돕기 위한 기부 사이트로 연결되는 것이었습니다.

그 순간 저는 우리의 삶은 이렇게 평화롭고 행복할 수 있는 반면, 지구 반대편에서는 동시에 참혹한 비극이 벌어지고 있다는 사실을 깊이 깨달았습니다.

리버 파크의 즐겁고 평온한 분위기와 수많은 생명을 잃거나 부상을 입은 베네수엘라 사람들의 가슴 아픈 현실이 선명하게 대비되었습니다. 강에서 웃음꽃을 피우며 카약을 즐기는 사람들의 모습은, 한때 웅장했던 건물 잔해 속에서 생존자를 애타게 찾는 사람들의 절박한 모습과 겹쳐 보였습니다.

저는 오늘 안전하고 편안한 집으로 돌아갈 수 있지만, 바로 이 순간에도 지구 어딘가에서는 한 가족이 자연의 거대한 힘 앞에서 사랑하는 가족을 잃었다는 비보를 듣고 있을지도 모릅니다.

저는 베네수엘라의 수색과 구호 활동을 돕기 위해 작은 기부를 하며, 이 감사와 성찰의 마음을 함께 나누고 싶었습니다.

우리는 삶이라는 선물과 안전하게 살아갈 수 있는 축복에 늘 감사해야 합니다. 그것은 우리가 생각하는 것보다 훨씬 더 순식간에 사라질 수도 있기 때문입니다.
